  1. Well, I don't know what to say just yet.
  2. I missed this game. I was volunteering at the Cal Ripken U9 New England Regional Tournament, which is being played in my hometown. Anyway, those of you who thought I was crazy last night when I said that we still have a shot... Well, this game was a good sign. Lots of lower quality players stepped up and produced. Good offense to bail out the pitching of our man Kelly. Isn't this what we've been hoping for all year?
  3. True. We've been winning every day with ER recently, Wright is respectable, and Miley is getting more consistent. Kelly and Porcello are the two wild cards.
  4. All that does is take the spotlight off us. That's not a bad thing. We have some crucial yet winnable games coming up. Tampa, @NYY, @Det, @Mia, vs Sea. No reason we can't go at least 9-4 or 8-5. I do realize we have everyone to pass in the AL except Oakland, but still, who knows..
  5. That closed out a 10-15 July, but after July 11, we were 6-3 in July. Could have gone better. I hate to say it, but we're 8 games out of the WC. Stranger things have happened. If we pull together 2-3 weeks of winning series, things could get more interesting.
  6. They are certainly getting hot.
  7. And there's Arizona and Houston. Astros are up 4-3, but I'm on Arizona's bandwagon. They're not that far out of the WC.
  8. Nah. I'm watching the funniest show ever created. I only got into it last year, yet it's about 10 years older than I am.
  9. It's funny how much I can pickup from reading through the gamethread. I haven't looked at the alerts on my phone, or turned to the game all night, but I still have a pretty idea of what's going on.
  10. Rangers just exploded on Bumgarner. Other than the fact that this costs my fantasy team a QS, I came to this conclusion: Their offense is obviously good, but all I really see on that team is Fielder, Moreland, Hamilton, and Beltre. Why can't we do so much with so little?
  11. I'm never going to get used to Tulo in a Jays uniform. Or Cespedes in a Mets uniform. He's bounced around a bit in the last year. Sox, then Dey-twah, and now NY? Jeez.
  12. By that logic, it is Ben's fault.
  13. Well, those of you who said that the season was over when Buchholz got hurt were certainly right. Excluding that game, we're 3-12 since then.
  14. Wow. I guess when you really think about it, he was the last true ace we had, except for those years with Lester. He left the Sox when I was 6. I vaguely recall him playing for the Phillies, but I was not as big of a fan of the game back them as I am now, meaning that I didn't watch games that the Sox weren't playing in.
  15. I'll start to feel old when the first group of guys I do remember watching get into the HOF. Guys like Ortiz and Jeter, although we still have some time before that happens.
  16. I just watched the entire Pedro ceremony since I missed it, and I came to the following conclusion: I really hate the fact that I never saw him play. I was too damn young. Even in 2004.
  17. We lost because I didn't post during the game. It's a given rule that the GT starter has to post at least once during the game.
  18. The way last winter went? Not quite.
  19. There's 12 teams... Top 4 have byes. We're playing the other team from our town/school district, so at least it'll be fun.
  20. ...except Pedro's ceremony. And I'm going to miss it all. My 0-16 baseball team has a playoff game. I think we can win, but I can't carry the team. I've saved 7 runs in LF in the last two games, but that's still not enough. Have fun tonight Pedro! This is your moment. Let it soak in. Cue the stories. RHP Jeff Samardzija (Unless he gets traded) (7-5. 3.91) vs LHP Wade Miley (8-8, 4.33)
  21. And Bogaerts and Betts are the next generation of The Untouchables.
  22. Anyway, the Tulo trade completely blew my mind. I never thought the Rockies would trade him. Ever. He's the equivalent of Pedroia to our franchise: Heart and soul that keeps everyone going.
  23. That's funny. I just heard that the Astros are going all out for Hamels.
