It's no different than any personal day that any employee in any industry takes. I was burned out after tax busy season, so I took all of last week off. By no means am I saying that my firm is so important that they couldn't survive without me, but they make it clear that they would sacrifice the events of that day for the long-term physical or mental wellbeing of any of us.
Forcing Xander to play because we "need him" to win a ballgame? How is that fair to him, if 99.999999% of any other set of employers out there make you work when you're sick or injured?
