  1. Have a great night everyone. I'll make tomorrow's game thread in the morning. Let's enjoy this one in the meantime
  2. Why shouldn't Houck start tomorrow?
  3. I'm in a tiny studio apartment in Quincy but I can almost feel everybody partying around the Boston area
  4. Tomorrow I will be providing free heart pills with my mojo
  5. Some might say it is controlled
  6. About your average October afternoon in Boston. Overcast and in the low 60s. Not overly chilly but hopefully cool enough to flummox the bats of a dome team from Florida
  7. If we win today, I think we win in 4. If we lose today, I think we lose in 4.
  8. Imagine how bad this team would have been if Stanton and Judge had missed significant time this year. They were both healthy the vast majority of the season, and carried the load offensively.
  9. When Student 9s were released for today's game, it caused redsox.com to crash. So much for baseball being a dying sport among America's Youth
  10. RHP Drew Rasmussen vs RHP Nathan Eovaldi Here's to hoping the Sox can get a win for my grandfather on his birthday. A lifelong Sox fan who suffered for years like most of you, he got to see 3 championships at the end of his life. I was especially happy that he got to see the 2013 title before his passing in June 2014. We knew 2013 was probably going to be his last full season. Go wild. Go crazy. But not both.
  11. In that scenario, E-Rod pitching game 4 and having a bounce back game would be ideal, because then Sale/Houck and Eovaldi could both potentially pitch twice in the ALCS
  12. Have Sale go a few innings, then bring Houck in for a few innings, then Pivetta for a few innings.
  13. Thunder mojo bringing the bats tonight
  14. I can't imagine a Kevin Cash managed team playing an insanely long game like Game 3 in 2018. He would probably use all 13 if it went 16+ innings.
  15. I wouldn't expect much the first time through the order, unless he leaves a pitch or two out over the plate. But, hopefully the second time through they can adjust and make Cash take him out a few batters early. Rather than taking him out after everybody bats twice, he'll take him out with the 7 hitter due up
  16. One could say that it was nice to see some much needed social distancing taking place in Florida in that part of the ballpark last night
  17. Upper deck was less than half full last night. Didn't surprise me at all
  18. LHP Chris Sale vs RHP Shane Baz I'm older than Shane Baz. Yikes. Look, we're still in this series. I liked the decision to start E-Rod last night because if we somehow managed to steal the game, we would have our two aces in the next two games. If we lost, we would still have the edge in the pitching matchup the next two games. I really think we can win these next two, but it starts tonight. All we need is more timely hitting, and an early lead. Kill their momentum by getting ahead early. I know how much we just love coming back, but that's a tough ask against a team like this in the postseason.
  19. Last night was fun until I fell asleep in the 7th inning. It felt magical. Multiple instances during the regular season have felt magical as well. Curious to see how far this team can go. I'm experiencing my first Boston sports playoff season since I moved here, and I'm loving every second of it so far.
  20. Very unpleasant day here in Boston. Light drizzle, temps in the 50s. Should be dry by game time but still very gross and cold
  21. This is the first year the guy has NOT won 100 games, and he still won 90. If you keep doing that, eventually you win championships. The beauty (of bane) of a 162 game season is that it provides countless opportunities for managers to make boneheaded decisions. How is it any different from a player making a huge error in the field?
  22. Can we stop calling them the Skanks? Sometimes I think y'all are 5 years old
  23. Sale on the hill to give us home field on Tuesday. Big fan
  24. Yes. The vibe among Red Sox fans in the ballpark when that happened was more shock and awe than anger and heartbreak. I was there with a Yankee fan, so I let him enjoy it. Nothing better than the sound of a well struck baseball, regardless of who hits it. Some might say it is a sign of maturity and mental stability to be gracious and respectful in defeat
