  1. Without Middleton, Celtics have the better team, but Bucks have the best player on the floor. Game 4 was the grittiest Celtics performance of the year when it mattered most. I feel like it will propel them to the series win, but I may be wrong. I usually am
  2. Last night this offense woke up. We're going on a roll now
  3. Speaking of the Bucks, big game tonight. Boston is alive. Everybody's into it. Playoff season in Boston for any of our teams really brings the city together
  4. I'm not watching. Is that score a typo? Lol
  5. 9 runs allowed in 28 innings this weekend, and we still get swept. More of an indictment on the offense than the bullpen IMO, not to say that both aren't equally bad
  6. If we lose Devers in addition to Xander, I might have to root for another team for a few years until we get our s*** together. A part of me died when we lost Mookie. I never really liked the Bloom hire
  7. I would say they are pressing more than going through the motions. My baseball team senior year of HS went 2-23. We had a significant lack of talent, but the more we lost, the harder we tried, and the harder the game seemed. When you are going well, things come naturally. It's hard to kick that spiral when you are losing
  8. Over the last few weeks in Boston, I've felt an increased sense of desperation attached to the Bruins and Celtics. It seems like Bostonians want to get a championship out of one of them (more so the Celtics) because they know that summer won't be fun, and that fall may not be as enticing either with the Patriots seeming to get worse this offseason.
  9. Will be interesting to see what we do with Sale. Is he trade bait? Do we shut him down if we are out of contention when he gets healthy?
  10. Good news about that in the long run is that Boston will run Bloom and Co. out of town before they have the chance to make them a small market team
  11. The biggest difference between this year and last year is that small things during games aren't going our way. Last year, everybody in the bullpen seemed to have a career year, and we got the hits in key situations. If we still got those small breaks in our favor, and paired that with the drop off in performance in the bullpen and with the offense, I think we would be around .500 somewhere. But the bottom line is that the offense has been unacceptable, and the bullpen even worse. But I still don't think this lineup, with this manager, is this bad. I think at some point things have to change.
  12. Cora got tossed in the 3rd. Not his call today.
  13. I vote we make games 6 innings, but don't tell our pitchers until after the 6th inning
  14. Thanks for the tips. I'm staying downtown in a hotel on the lake. Flying in Friday afternoon, am going to buy tickets for Saturday and Sunday. Going all by myself because there are some things you just have to do
  15. 10 days ago I booked a trip to Chicago to see this team play at Wrigley. Should still be a fun trip, right? It is Wrigley, and I've never been there before
  16. Hasn't rained here all day and is not in the forecast for tonight
  17. But they are still the best team with "red" in their name. Take that however you feel like taking it...
  18. I'm not saying they can win the division. I didn't think that at the start of the season. But we should at least be hovering around .500
  19. Agreed. They appear to finally have enough pitching to make the playoffs
  20. Also, at least we're not Reds fans...
  21. This team isn't this bad. They'll turn it around at some point
  22. Not raining here now. I haven't checked since this morning. I am always a proponent of squeezing a game in on the night it is supposed to be played
  23. It's not going to rain all day here, but I would still be surprised if we play. Going to be 70 in Boston tomorrow, so a doubleheader in those conditions certainly wouldn't be the end of the world
  24. Nobody should look at standings - good or bad - before July 1st.
  25. Great win last night! Hoping some home cooking gets us going. I know this team isn't as bad as the record. I wasn't sure what the ceiling was at the start of the season, but it was definitely higher than this
