  1. you agree? well in that case i take it back!
  2. yup, those are the exact same words the doctor said in the article...
  3. tito just announced that ellsbury's hitting leadoff tonight and scutato's batting second. i don't like scutaro batting second at all, i'd rather have lowrie bat there until pedroia comes back
  4. i didn't vote in the poll because with 3 quality outfielders under contract for next year, it's not necessary to sign a vet, but i don't think we should trade him assuming all 3 of our outfielders are healthy next year, i would start kalish in triple a. if he performs well i would call him up, and if he's outproducing cameron or drew i would explore trading one of them at the deadline
  5. by the time youkilis returns from the dl, if he ever does, drew will be 3rd on the team in games played. it's ironic that only 3 (4 if you count dh as a position) of our position players have stayed off the dl and he's one of them

  7. you're right, i'm sure eric patterson would have done just as well
  8. it would be strange to see 3 lefthanded outfielders but kalish did hit .389/.382/.611 against lefthanders in pawtucket so he may not be a typical lefty hitter
  9. without his involvement in the 3 above mentioned late game rallies, there's a good chance that we'd be 8.5 games back of a playoff spot instead of 5.5
  10. this in the last week he's had a game winning double and he's been involved in 2 walkoff rallies, one of he he was the tying run in and the other of which mcdonald was the winning run after pinch running for him
  11. red sox manager, and now fiction writer terry francona http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/ there are also quotes from theo epstein and a doctor saying he may not need surgery
  12. i don't see where he fits in next year unless cameron still isn't healthy. i think he'll start at triple a so he can get regular at bats
  13. there's nothing official on youkilis, he could potentially be back in two weeks. but even if he is out for the year people have beeing saying "[insert player here] is out, who can replace his production?" all season long and somehow we've managed. as great a hitter as youkilis is, we'll be in a better position with v-mart, ellsbury and pedroia in the lineup than we were with youkilis in the lineup and all of them on the dl
  14. we may not make the playoffs this year but at least we're playing well and it's been a fun year to be a red sox fan. they haven't always treated us so kindly
  15. this has been a big year for our farm system with the emergence of buchholz and bard as dominant pitchers, the contributions of nava, lowrie and kalish and the resurgence of lars anderson in the minors
  16. yeah really. hughes has a 6.61 era since the all-star break and marcum has a 2.04 era in that same time
  17. it's gotta be eric patterson. we have no use for him now that kalish and lowrie are on the roster
  18. sweet. i like ellsbury and kalish a lot better than mcdonald and patterson
  19. tito just confirmed that ellsbury will be activated for tomorrow's game
