  1. cop out answer. you're complaining that it's the front offices fault the red sox are going to finish third. so i'm curious, how many games do you think they would have won if they were healthy?
  2. incomplete list of free agent relievers who are better than papelbon and would cost less rafael soriano grant balfour scott downs dan wheeler takashi saito kerry wood care to retract your statement that it's not possible to improve the bullpen by trading papelbon?
  3. in the last 5 seasons, the red sox have won 2 world series. i'm happy with that considering the 86 years before our current management took over and i'm happy with the team the management put together this year. it's not their fault that kevin youkilis, dustin pedroia, jacoby ellsbury, mike cameron, victor martinez, josh beckett, clay buchholz, daisuke matsuzaka, jason varitek, etc. all hit the disabled list this year
  4. one ridiculous statement deserves another. why don't you wait for the yankees to win another world series before you complain about them winning more than us in the last 5 years
  5. makes sense. cashman was told by hal steinbrenner that the yankees couldn't afford to sign johnny damon last year because they were on a "budget". that was the first time i ever heard a yankees owner mention the word "budget" the yankees also agreed in principle to a trade for mike cameron last year but when cashman went to hal for the ok to take on $5.5 million of cameron's contract, hal nixed the trade these aren't george's yankees anymore
  6. the red sox could have 2 after this season too. what's your point?
  7. he's come a long way from the kid that was arrested for stealing 29 laptops from a middle school in texas. he now has a wife, a kid and was just named the red sox most charitable player. pretty much every team in baseball passed on him at least once in the 2005 draft, in large part due to character issues. jim robinson, jason mcloud and theo epstein all interviewed him personally and decided he deserved a chance to redeem himself
  8. i doubt the yankees celebrate clinching the wild card
  9. how is that any differnt than webb who is now healthy and plans to pitch for the d-backs before the end of the season?
  10. i doubt the mets would have given bay the contract that they did if they had serious concerns about his health
  11. that's on buchholz. the first thing they teach you in that situation is to run towards the runner with the ball
  12. not really. if the rays won the next 3 games we could be 5.5 games back of the yankees with 6 left to play against them. i think our chances would be better if the yankees swept this series though, then rested players in our series with them
  13. like i said yesterday,
  14. that wasn't very mvp-like scutaro
  15. sounds like he's one of those righteous "andy pettitte" steroid users. what a load of bull
  16. keep the runs coming yankees
