    daisuke really does have a good slider. i remember being excited about it when he first came over to the states. i wish he'd work more of his good fastball/slider combination rather than throwing 4 other alright pitches

    2/18 for ortiz would be the highest i'd go. i'd offer less first and he's probably accept barring another team going after him hard

    i'm surprised he's done as well as he has in the majors, he's not ready. he has a great eye and i really like the way he sees the ball and he's got a lot of power but he needs to fix his swing

    he definitely throws his cutter too much, it's like his safety blanket and it's not good enough to be a go-to pitch. that's really what sets buchholz and lester apart from buchholz since he developed his sinker this year and lester after he came back from cancer and polished his cutter

    yankees fans will assure you that it's not at all because of the outrageous ticket prices but because the new yankee stadium is so awesome that people don't sit in their seats and watch the game, they walk around instead. that somehow makes them seem like better fans

    that's some revisionist history from morgan saying that we knew youkilis, pedroia and ellbury weren't coming back prior to the trading deadline. they all played after the trade deadline - we expected them back

    the problem with youkilis going down was that it was AFTER the trade deadline. and we did go out and get delgado but he was hurt as well i don't think it would have been worth going after a bigger name that would have cost us prospects

    if daisuke scrapped his 6 pitch thing and just went with his fastball, his slider which is actually very good, and his changeup, he might be a decent pitcher
