  1. Jeeze, it sure took him long enough to figure out how to use them correctly. I just assume everyone's on them considering how poor MLB's testing system is and how many people they've caught anyways.
  2. That was before the wild card. It's a lot easier to compete against two teams than it is to compete against the best team in baseball, which usually comes from the AL East.
  3. Last I checked, the Red Sox didn't extend Bay because he had bad knees, not because of his fielding. And considering Bay has an .823 OPS and April is one of his best months, it looks like they made the right move Besides, Jason Bay had poor fielding stats long before he came to the Red Sox. Seems like a non-issue if ever there was one.
  4. Tex will be fine, he gets off to a slow start every year. Last year he hit .200 in April with a .738 OPS and finished the year with a .292 AVG and a .948 OPS.
  5. Sabathia gave up 11 hits and 2 walks and only allowed 3 runs? Wow, the Orioles suck. I'm beginning to think they might actually be as bad as their record suggests.
  6. This stuff has a way of evening itself out and I'm sure at one point we'll have our rotation pitching like they're able, our lineup will be hitting at their normal clip and we'll be playing good defense and we'll still lose some games. But, it's been a lot of fun to see this team win 7 of their last 9 while most of our best hitters and pitchers were struggling. I think this team is a force to be reckoned with. With the improved defense, I don't see any reason why Lester, Beckett and Lackey can't post ERA's in the mid to low 3's and if our offense even scores 800 runs, we should be a 95+ win team. I've been a Red Sox fan for a while. I've seen plenty of horrible teams who I knew had no shot at making a postseason run, even early in the season. This is not one of them. This is a special team.
  7. McDonald's done a terrific job. If it wasn't for him, we'd probably be 2 or 3 games under .500. He's both driven in a run and scored a run in 4 one run games for us in his 9 games in the majors.
  8. A nice easy save from Papelbon. I suspect we'll see a lot of these 7 innings performances from our starters this year. Lester, Beckett and Lackey all go deep into games.
  9. Yeah, he's really more of a no good move is a good move manager. I'm surprised he didn't leave Ortiz in the 3 spot of the order for 2 months this year while he figured things out.
  10. Crap, it would have been the highlight of the game of Varitek got an infield hit.
  11. I've never heard of it. What's it about?
  12. Bard's been filthy so far. In 13.2 innings, he's allowed 10 baserunners and he's struck out 17.
  13. That explains it. He looks like an Italian guy to me and is name is Marco.
  14. Ethnically uninformed, I can deal with that.
  15. It's always fun to see the 8 seed beat the 1 seed. It would be cool to see a Canadiens/Bruins playoff series this year.
  16. Marco Scutaro doesn't look Venezuelan, especially when he's standing next to fellow Venezuelan shortstop Alex Gonzalez. Is that racist?
  17. After 9 the DWI and hooker shift becomes the hooker DWI shift.
  18. He threw 75 strikes and 44 balls. That's almost a two to one ratio.
  19. Well that's close to as dominant as a starter can be. 7 innings, only one hit, 2 walks and he picked one of them off and he struck out 11. Hopefully he's turned the corner.
