  1. And Nick Johnson is hurt again and will likely see the DL. So much for him staying healthy by playing DH. Who will replace him in the lineup if he misses significant time?
  2. I only got to see the first 4 innings and maybe he got better as the game went on but I saw him get outs on a lot of hard hit balls and get a lot of help from the umpires. Eventually those hits are going to start falling in - he can't keep up a BABIP of .162 the whole year.
  3. Those are all very solid numbers with the exception of this year and that's a small sample size.
  4. Yup, pretty much. This is Papelbon's 5 season as our closer and his career stats are better than the best closer of all time. What more do you want from him?
  5. Suggestion Number One: Get a girlfriend.
  6. Lester is 2-0 with a 0.43 ERA his last three starts and Lackey is 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA his last three starts. Once Beckett joins the party, it'll be just like the Sox drew it up. As for the offense, it's performed exactly as expected. We're third in the league in OPS, the runs will follow.
  7. Yeah, as much as it @#$%ing sucks that we got swept by Baltimore, we've been playing really well for the most part. Our pitching is just starting to come around, as is our defense. We'll be just fine.
  8. Who cares that he struggled in April if he hits 30 home runs and drives in 100 over the rest of the season?
  9. A nice, easy 10 pitch save for Papelbon. That's 21 consecutive converted save opportunities for him. Other than the first half of last year, he's been a lights out closer.
  10. He's hit 4 in his last 9 games. That's a lot.
  11. It seems like my Dad sends me the same two texts ever other night. The first one is always "Bruins!!!" and after I respond he says "Oh yeah!". It looks like a special year for them.
  12. Beltre! It was only a matter of time before the power came, he was hitting the ball so well.
  13. Dominant performance by Bard. He leads all AL relievers with 22 strikeouts and has struck out multiple batters in 9 of his last 11 appearances now. He's really starting to look like a shut down set up guy.
  14. What a horrible send by the 3B coach. There goes a good chance at insurance runs.
  15. Nice play by Scut on a tough hop. An economic 7th inning for Lackey and he's at 102 pitches through 7. Would you guys send him back out for the 8th?
  16. 3 trips to the plate for Ortiz, 3 times on base.
  17. Lackey at 92 pitches through 6. Should be another start deep into the game for him.
  18. Pineiro's doing a good job, but fortunately we've gotten him up to 100 pitches through 5 innings.
  19. Meanwhile, Ortiz keeps hitting bombs...
  20. Ortiz is 4 home runs ahead of where he was last year when he finished with 28. His stance and his swing look a lot better.
