  1. Another home run by Ortiz and Beltre makes a great play. It's good to see some of the guys come around.
  2. I believe I said it his last time out that it's not the smartest idea to have a 38 year old throw 120 pitches every time out. Not everyone on the Yankees staff is CC Sabathia.
  3. http://www.oldielyrics.com/lyrics/edwin_starr/war.html It's part of the song.
  4. And that's probably the game. The O's should have been out of the inning with the game at 3-1 but some bad defense lead to 3 more runs.
  5. Now Andy tries to be too fine and walks in a run. 3-1 game. I'm kind of surprised a hitter hasn't sit on his curve on the first pitch yet.
  6. What a big inning for the O's. They throw out Nick Johnson at home, strike out Cano on a ball in the dirt and then get Swisher to pop up to escape a bases loaded, no one out situation while only giving up one run.
  7. It looks like Ellsbury's going to be back sooner rather than later. According to Will Carroll, it's possible, though unlikely, that he'll play this weekend against the Yankees.
  8. What is Trembley arguing about? I don't have sound.
  9. I think you're confusing "as A-Rod goes, the Yankees go" with "A-Rod makes the team better overall". Some of A-Rod's best months with the Yankees have been some of the Yankees worst months. Some of A-Rod's worst months with the Yankees have been some of the Yankees best months. A-Rod hit .355/.415/.882 in April of 2007 and the Yankees went 9-14. He hit .206/.361/.474 in July of 2007 and the Yankees went 19-9. A-Rod hit .366/.455/.693 in June of 2008 and the Yankees went 16-12. He hit .278/.383/.532 in September of 2008 and the Yankees went 17-9. Last year seems more like the exception than the rule.
  10. Again, I think you're giving way too much credit to A-Rod. The Yankees started out at 17-18 with A-Rod in 2008 and they started out at 14-16 with A-Rod in 2007. So I find it hard to believe that A-Rod was their savior last year. Besides, as good as A-Rod is, he isn't as valuable as Cameron, Ellsbury and Matsuzaka combined.
  11. His career UZR is -40.6. I think saying that he is godawful is putting it lightly.
  12. 99% of knowledgeable baseball fans would say that Honus Wagner is the best shortstop of all-time.
  13. With four members of the rotation performing well above their career abilities, and bench players carrying the team, the Yankees are a prime candidate for regression as the season goes on.
