  1. Both teams have off days tomorrow. New York needs to fly to Baltimore, and the Sox need to get to Chicago. Would they play this game tomorrow?
  2. Toronto was the best offense in baseball for 2015, and he's faced them twice. The Yankees were the second best offense in baseball last year, and he dominated them last night. You can't say that the competition has skewed his results so far, but the sample size is still tiny.
  3. Eight run lead. Ninth inning. And you put in Tazawa? Save the arms man...
  4. Is this the game where we start to realize that the Red Sox are going to be awesome this year? If we can get 2014 Porcello, this team looks very different.
  5. Clever. The overlords here aren't particularly bothersome. Just don't be a complete ass or flirt with the mods and you'll come out unscathed.
  6. I remember Pomeranz was the key piece from a Ubaldo Jimeniz trade a few years back. Everyone was high on his stuff at the time, but has mostly been a reliever in the past, hasn't he?
  7. Hoping Porcello continues his win streak and silences a few critics.
  8. JBJ has a .691 OPS, and needs to be replaced. Holt has a .722 OPS and deserrve All-star consideration? Bradley is hitting well enough to justify his glove, IMO.
  9. It seems like the Red Sox have been running into this situation a lot lately. Players who are too valuable to trade, and not valuable enough to get anything in return. Unless they're hurting roster space, I just say keep them.
  10. Young has 28 PA to Holt's 72. The Red Sox just happened to face a lot of RHP in the first few weeks of the season. I would have to spotcheck the numbers to confirm, but the Toronto announcers that the Red Sox didn't face any lefties for the first two weeks of season. Farrell is trying to keep Young engaged despite the matchups. I'm looking at these trends, and it appears that Young has been starting against lefties, and for some Buchholz and Wright starts. Maybe Farrell prefer's Young's defense and is expecting more flyballs against those two?
  11. I'd take two good months if they can find a pitcher at the deadline.
  12. Steven Wright... 4 starts, 4 quality, 1.37 ERA. He had an easy matchup against Atlanta today, but he's done well against the Jays, Jays and Astros in his other starts. I don't know about everyone else, but its exciting to have a new cost-controlled starter on the team.
  13. Since he signed, have we had any real problems with Hanley's personality or clubhouse presence ? There has been some speculation that he didn't work very hard in left field, but he just seemed like a fish out of water there. He certainly has had a much better transition to first. It would be great to see him turn around the public opinion of him.
  14. The Red Sox spent a large amount of money on him in free agency. That usually means that the player's career is almost over.
  15. If they can't get high end talent for Swihart they should keep him. There aren't any other significant catchers in the system, and catcher is the hardest position to fill in free agency.
  16. There is a big difference between sitting a few games, and sitting out two full weeks.
  17. The Jays feed mentioned that the Red Sox have yet to face a LHP starter yet. We've all given Farrell s*** about this, but if Young spent two full weeks on the bench, he's going to suck when they do put him in against lefties.
  18. We're in the fun part of the season. The team is winning. The obvious flaws in the team's makeup aren't nearly as obvious yet. The crippling injuries to key players haven't happened yet. The top prospects in AAA haven't flopped yet. The Yankees haven't traded bum prospects for quality players. Gotta love April.
  19. Price giving up big contact early.
  20. My guess is that they tried to trade Swihart this winter, and couldn't find anyone giving up a solid pitcher in return.
  21. Serious question. Has any professional baseball player had liposuction or other weight loss surgeries?
  22. Keuchel pulled after 5.2 IP, 3 ER. Seriously? Meanwhile Cueto already disqualified for the QS with 5 ER in the first.
  23. 6.2 IP, 1 ER against the best offense in baseball. Last year he had a sub-4.00 ERA as a starter. He needs to get an extended look, even though it will drive most of us nuts.
  24. Damnit, you had to jinx me. Keuchel seems to have nothing today.
