The way I see it, the problem has nothing to do with which side is better or worse. The problem is that AL pitchers get hurt because there is the difference. It doesn't matter whether they decide to keep DH or get rid of it, it just needs to be consistent-- otherwise players get hurt.
I hate to say it, but this team might want to start building for next year. Losing Pedroia and Buchholz in back to back games with Beckett, Ellsbury and Drew out, Papelbon is sucking, Lackey is having an off-season... its looking bad. Trading Beltre/Papelbon/Vmart might be worth it if they fall out too many games.
He was lying down directly in the way of the play, so then they grab a stretcher, grab him, move him to the side of the field, and then he immediately gets out of the stretcher and walks away.
I got so frustrated with this world cup. You would think they'd try to clean some of this garbage up somewhere along the line.
Normally I don't get agitated about little things. But everyone who is down on MDC needs to get a f***ing clue. Besides Bard, he's the best bullpen guy on the team right now.
Facing two aces is facing two aces, no matter how good your offense is. And with the bullpen in peril, this team can't count on winning the later part of the game.
So, this team lucked out. Because of the off day, they moved their pitchers so Cain pitched yesterday and he's not going to be in this series. Sure, he got lit up yesterday, but atleast the Sox aren't going up against Cain and Lincecum in the same series.
The team will need atleast one more bullpen guy. With that being said, I really would like to see what Richardson/Manuel are capable of, and the FO is waiting before giving up on the new guys that have been successful in the past. The team will just have to make do with what they have until they can find a deal they like-- its been obvious how bad the bullpen is for a while, but there haven't even been rumors about bp trades..
Well, I mean lately. With 700 not around, and a few people having problems with the site right now... plus some people focusing their sports time on the world cup, Wimbledon, the nba draft, and the late start time tonite, its going to be quiet.
5.0IP 5 hits 4 walks 2 runs 6k
He didn't quite have the control tonite, but he kept them in the game.
Considering that Doubront went 5 IP with 3 runs, Dice-k is still the best solution for that 4th spot right, and I don't see him giving up more than 3 runs in a game with the way he's pitched this season.
Not halfway into the season, and the team's top 4 outfielders are unavailable. I would say that counts as "turning out". There is as much a risk putting too much faith into a 37 year old as there is putting faith into a rookie.
The problem is that right now, Cameron is playing like a 4th outfielder. This team needs a 1st outfielder, and Crawford/Werth will be a guarantee that Nava won't be. This year, they skimped on an important offensive position and look how that turned out.
Its not like he was a great player-- he was just a qualifier. He gets a ton of publicity, he'll probably get a big endorsement deal from Nike, and it will likely revitalize his mediocre career. Plus, he has a place in history. I really don't see it as a loss.
