  1. A certain someone who is responsible for a lot of negativity hasn't been around for a week, so I don't think its a coincidence.
  2. Makes you wonder how Ubaldo will fare against a real offense.
  3. Interesting, I had never even heard of him before. It might make sense to change the title, I was confused by what was going on with the article at first.
  4. Yeah, just because their contracts end at the end of the year doesn't make them free agents-- they go to arbitration. So, many of those players will be sticking around. Cots has better reference here http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tgIp3wMqRUbYKz17SoXACQg&output=html
  5. Fun fact-- Wakefield's middle name is Stephen. He's also doing pretty well tonite.
  6. Fun fact: Scutaro and Beltre combined-- 21 errors. But they're hitting well above career averages. Good thing they decided to go for defense.
  7. I'm in. A friend of mine may also be interested.
  8. Maybe I'm looking at a different list than you, but half of those players aren't free agents next year. Pena, Crawford, Soriono are, but I don't think the others are.
  9. Cameron can't play every day with him hurting like he is. But I agree.. Nava/McDonald/Hall are what... the team's 5th, 6th, and 8th outfielders this season?
  10. Manny just stole a base...
  11. Padilla has a 6.65 ERA in the National League west. That's just sad-- Toronto has scored more runs than any team in their division.
  12. The Sox are on a tear with his mojo and he's not here. I get a feeling there won't be much fluttering.
  13. If Galarraga taught us anything, its that the MLB doesn't like to fix problems-- especially if they're profitable problems, ie no salary cap. The Rays have a ton of impact players who will be around for years to come, and more prospects coming to replace those who won't be. In the east, teams will be fighting for the division and wild card, but in the rest of the AL, other teams need to win their own division year after year to get in and that's just as unfair.
  14. Doubront needs more time in the minors. If he's good enough to pitch to 95 mph in the middle of the game and gets results, he has far more value as a starter. But throwing him into the rotation is a bad idea, and he needs more time in AAA--especially to build his endurance. It was acceptable to give him a spot start, but too much time in the majors will expose his stuff, throw off his development and mess with his confidence.
  15. I knew this team had a pretty good chance to be in it for the WC, but I didn't believe they could come from 10 games back to get into contention for the division.
  16. You know, for all we talked about Ortiz struggling because Manny doesn't protect him, I'm starting to think the same thing happened to Manny. The scary part-- they're both free agents next year for whoever wants them.
  17. no, actually, if he homers it will be 10-9.
  18. At the end of 5 innings, 1 ER, .80 Whip. He fell apart after that, but those first five innings were such a good sign. He will need time to work on endurance, but he looked very good.
  19. And suddenly, the AL East got a lot more interesting.
  20. Atchison has been surprisingly effective lately.
  21. Not really, he still left with a five run lead. I'd prefer a win over a quality start any day.
  22. Wow. I saw the Sox score five runs. I left to take a shower. I come back 15 minutes later. The inning is still going.
  23. So far Doubront 5 IP, 70 pitches, 1 ER, .80 whip.
