  1. A-gon isn't going to cost any more than Cabrera, Fielder, Dunn etc. Beltre is going to sign an albatross next year, and the Sox should know better.
  2. Doubront is valuable because he is a trade chip. He's going to be a key component to a deal for a big corner infielder or catcher, and it makes no sense to waste him on a guy they can get later on anyway.
  3. The title of this post is misleading. The Yankees will likely end up with Lee from free agency, but that article really doesn't make any indication that a deal is close besides assumption.
  4. As much as I'd like to see Werth on this team, it makes no sense for the Sox to drop a lot of prospects on him if he doesn't sign a long term deal. Having Cameron as a 4th outfielder is different than having a guy like Lugo as a 2nd SS because there are a lot more opportunities for a 4th outfielder to play, especially with Drew in there.
  5. Sorry, since everyone watches the finals and its a social thing, I wasn't at a computer during most of the games.
  6. He won two mvp trophies with Cleveland. He got them to the playoffs when clearly no one else would have gotten them there. He made the decision that will give him the most titles because he simply couldn't get any in Cleveland.
  7. Anyone who watched the game can't honestly blame Ray for shooting poorly. He spent his entire offensive game running around trying to get Fisher off him, then he went on and had to defend Kobe who he couldn't as much as look at funny without getting a foul. I wish he knew his limits better and took fewer shots, but I don't blame him for losing that series.
  8. I'm surprised that Pierce got 60+ and Ray only got 20. I can't believe the pay cut Ray took, but it helps the team immensely.
  9. Lebron has to be going to Chicago. Boozer, Noah, Rose, Lebron is a very good team, I'd say better than the Heat's team-- and much more balanced.
  10. I'm not down on this team-- I don't remember the last time I enjoyed watching baseball this much, because you have absolutely no clue who is going to be the hero, or what's going to happen. But there's a point where they have too many holes. With Bard reaching high innings, they need two, maybe three quality bullpen guys, and I just don't think its practical to drop that many prospects, especially since they might have other needs at the end of the month.
  11. Please atleast look up stats before you say mindless drivel like that. He's averaged 6 and 1/3 innings over that stretch, and pitched less than 5 innings only once.
  12. It seems like the team's weaknesses are becoming quite clear thanks to the injuries. Their starting pitching is great, but the bullpen can't protect a lead to save its life. I said it months ago that if one of Bard, Pap, MDC went down, the bullpen would be in serious trouble, and when MDC went down, now the pen is pretty worthless. Two nights ago when Youk was hurt, their 1, 2, 3, and 4 hitters were all hurt, plus Drew and Cameron haven't had healthy seasons. Personally, I think they need to firesale. It was supposed to be a bridge season, and now the whole team is hurt. It looks doubtful that they're resigning Beltre or VMart, and Papelbon is expendable now, so maybe its time to trade those chips to contenders and find a permanent solution for corner infield.
  13. Tito is getting a lot of attention for manager of the year because he's been keeping the team together, and I do personally think that its invaluable at a time when it seems the bleakest for the team. The reserves of the team aren't the problem-- they have been playing great, but its the guys replacing the backups that have been failing. The team's top 4 catchers have been out, 3 of the top 4 outfielders have spent good time on the DL, 3 members of the starting 5 rotation have been on the the DL. Criticizing their depth at this point is like bitching about why the Pawsox can't beat the yankees.
  14. Lester has been the best pitcher in baseball since he got out of April. And while his starts since then have been slightly better than Buchholz, Buchholz has been pitching well all year-- including the part of the year when the team was at its worst, and needed an ace-- April. I think its reasonable to argue for the more consistent pitcher with fewer earned runs against.
  15. It would have been a better move if he hadn't been lights out in AAA lately, but it still makes sense. They need bullpen arms, he hasn't had much success with the Sox as a starter, and his trade value is a lot lower than it used to be.
  16. I would like to point out that not only did Jacko just admit the sox have a chance to get to the playoffs, he's also using it as a way to criticize them.
  17. Lester is their ace- that's unquestionable. But top starter is debatable.
  18. If he can hit like this till Ellsbury gets back, Hermida is getting traded.
  19. The 2010 Red Sox's top starter is out, and he only misses one start? I don't believe it either.
  20. Looking for starting pitching does not work with their long term plans. Buchholz is almost health, and Beckett will be back soon, giving them a very strong 1-4. Fun fact: Between Doubront, Dice-k, and Bowden, not a single one of them has allowed more than 3 earned runs in any of their starts since May in any level of baseball. So yeah, I think this team will be able to survive without another starter.
  21. Yeah, I caught the Tek mention, but I figured since you had Lowell and Hermida on the list, I'd might as well complete it with accurate injury details.
  22. 8)Varitek-foot 9)Manny Delcarmen-forearm 10) Drew- vaginal cramping
