  1. I think everyone assumes he's going back to St Louis. Its a good club with pitching, and he will have protection in the lineup, and he's definitely a franchise player. Every now and then, I use the phrase "in an ideal, beautiful world the Sox will sign Pujols" but I can't see him going anywhere. The Cards may use the Twins strategy-- 60 of their 72 million right now is devoted to 4 players, and they've made it to the playoffs several times the past ten years. Has there even been any reports of Pujols talking about wanting to hit the open market?
  2. They brought in a pile of AAAA scrap heap relievers last year. Embree, Boof Bonser, the other Ramon Ramirez...

    2010 ROY

Whether they were in or not, both players definitely were deserving. I'm sure people will complain, but these are not bad selections whatsoever.
  4. Except that he can play 3B or LF, aka our needs.
  5. I wonder if there is fifth Ramon Ramirez available on the trade market.
  6. I'm a kid in a candy shop at the idea of replacing one of the worst pitching coaches in the majors with one of the best. It makes me giddy.
  7. Dan Uggla is reportedly being shopped after contract extension talks with the Marlins fell through. In 2010, he hit .287 and hit 33 home runs and has one more year of arbitration before hitting free agency. There is talk of him moving from 2B to either 3B or LF. He sounds like the best trade option I've heard so far.
  8. I'm fairly certain pressing that button causes The Yeszir-symbol to light up in the sky in Not-Boston-City to tell him he's needed.
  9. For the pieces that he will cost, Greinke would be expected to pitch like a #2, if not an ace.
  10. Haha, that's what I mean... I figure you were just holding the domain, and I saw that, and sort of wondered what happened.
  11. You know, I have no clue who teaches defense to pitchers in this organization, but I'm going to immediately put this under my usual "John Farrell Hate" column. If he wasn't blessed with millions upon millions of payroll dollars for pitching, he'd be a bat boy for the Spinners right now.
  12. Create a new domain, Talkpolitics and you'll make a new friend. On a side note, what on earth is up with Talkcelts?
  13. Banhammer.
  14. If the Yankees get Lee, they take the East next year. In order for them to get to the playoffs, Toronto needs to beat Tampa, Boston, and other wild cards from other divisions.
  15. And Wakefield is making 1.5 million, but atleast he has had success.
  16. he's been in the majors since 2006 apparently, and has yet to find any semblance of success. Not worth the money.
  17. Considering the quality of pitching that has been coming through the league lately, his 2009 season is mediocre.
  18. He hit 17 in 131 games last year between three leagues in 2010, (and 19 in 2009) so the power is definitely there. I just don't think he will get enough at bats this year to hit those numbers.
  19. How the hell does Jorge turn out Type A? 4.3 ERA 120 IP in the NL? He seems about as average as you can get.
  20. I agree with most of that, but if they'll be losing Cameron/Drew/Beltran in 2012, what would the team be stopgaping to? Dejesus is the best available, but he'll cost a ton for a .800 OPS hitter too.
  21. The Red Sox need a stopgap at 3b, but in the OF a long term contract would be fine, since there will be about 6 million total committed to the outfield in 2012(Only Ellsbury/Kalish). I think Werth/Crawford are better options than what is coming in next year's offseason-missing out on two offseasons with big OFs when you can afford them just seems like a bad idea. Dejesus is the only big OF I see, but I certainly don't like him as much as Crawford.
  22. I give him four more seasons-- if teams want to tolerate him.
