  1. Really? They both should accept the money, and play for a big contract in 2012, because that is the absolutely best thing for them.
  2. Actually, I was assuming they were dropping Beltre/Vmart for the picks to begin with. But losing out to a 4/50 is disgraceful, I thought they'd budge at 4/52.
  3. Replacing that offense won't be easy. They'll need Konerko/Dunn, not Lee/Pena.
  4. We legitimately argued about this with you atleast ten times, and you never accepted him as #2 until now.
  5. 115? That seems cheap to me. If the Red Sox were willing to pay 104 for 6 years of Dice-k, I feel like they can do a little better for Lee.
  6. So you have two GGs, and a quality 1B, and one of them is being paid to DH? The FO won't waste that kind of money when strong hitting DHs grow on trees.
  7. Apparently he's been at Fort Myers and is starting to take live batting practice a few times a week. http://soxblog.projo.com/2010/11/westmoreland-ho.html I read an article somewhere saying he has the potential to start performing at the same level again, and even if that's overly optimistic, its a very good sign toward him living a normal life.
  8. The Rangers are world series contenders. The Yankees are world series contenders. If the Yankees get Lee, the Rangers are not World Series contenders with Greinke. With that offense, and their young pitching, they need to atleast give it a shot, considering they won their first playoff series WITH Lee. They can find the money somwhere... maybe George Bush will give them a loan?
  9. I'm still considering what they said about this season-- one major trade and one major signing. Despite everything we've been saying, its starting to look like they have quite a few trade chips right now.
  10. Crawford, Upton, Gonzalez? That sounds a tad optimistic.
  11. I disagree with all these people about money. When you're building a Deathstar, you can't try to scimp on your superlaser.
  12. Right, but that's not all. Its about tv ratings and intangibles. The Red Sox lost about a third of their viewership from last year. The ownership wants it back. It is about a 0.0001% chance, but I'm sitting at work bored, and I figured I'd throw it out there.
  13. I heard the Yankees put their foot down at 3/45. You never know how negotiations will go.
  14. All these comments from Red Sox ownership give me the feeling they want more big names/personalities for this team to generate more excitement for the team. I'm curious if they'd consider Jeter just for revenue.
  15. He could have thrown 30 no-hitters and it still wouldn't have gotten his team to the playoffs. Hell, they'd probably lose half of them 1-0 with 3 errors in one inning.
  16. Oh good, now Theo might be selling the farm for another JD Drew with real injury risks? This is why I'm saying don't sell the farm for anyone not named Albert, Hanley or Lincecum.
  17. I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but Lester came in 4th.
  18. If it went to CC, I would have cried.
  19. If they're devoting large money to Upton, I don't think they'd want to put more money into the OF, especially with big holes in 3B, C, and the bullpen already, plus whatever holes the trade would open up. And as far as his age-- I understand how young he is. But I see no reason to pay for him like a HOF until he actually is playing like one.
  20. Except that you're trading cost-controlled guys to get him. Its going to cost 8 million per year to replace the production of Bard for the next five years, you do realize that, right?
