  1. I think this may be the article referring to Youk in Left field: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AoUlkm7oDTIp3qTRyiXeBBI5nYcB?slug=ti-jeteryankeesagreement120410
  2. I bet the problem is they're trying to get an injury clause in for that shoulder. Either that, or they just haven't announced that they got the deal done yet(they might not for a week haha)
  3. Wow... you know, if the Sox don't do any other big moves... They will have 7 draft picks in the first two rounds this year.
  4. Hahha, except that he hit .941 against RHP too.
  5. Ordonez looks like he might be going back to Detroit. I'm a little afraid Detroit wants them both, but Ordonez fills the same role as a big RH bat in RF for much cheaper.
  6. Apparently the Tigers are likely to re-sign Ordonez. Considering that they will be one of the big spenders this offseason, and Werth and Ordonez both serve the same purpose as hard hitting RFs. Does this mean the Sox will have a better shot at Werth?
  7. And if not, I think there are a good number of teams who'd want a GG 1B who hits like a beast for a reasonable contract.
  8. The A-gon move sets up a big OF pickup perfectly because of the low 2010 cost. As Agon's contract goes up, Cameron/Drew's income leaves. Plus, they still have a good deal of money lying around still because of money saved from Vmart.
  9. Aha! It looks like I'll be getting a point from my pick on 1B!
  10. Were it just about talent, the FO wouldn't do this move. But its about tv ratings and money, and being a good team now instead of later. And when I say that, its not necessarily a criticism-- if they lose big tv ratings for a few years, they lose big money for a few years. And that means they can afford fewer big stars, less money on their farm system and draft picks, etc. This is the kind of move that will get people watching again!
  11. Hahahaha, great post Casey. Considering he's Florida born and he'll be going into a pitcher's paradise, it doesn't sound like a bad deal for him. I dated a girl by the name of Kelly a while back. She was pretty bland, and we decided to end things. I sort of realized it wasn't a huge loss, and since then, whenever my love life hasn't worked out, I say to myself "There's always another Kelly".
  12. Well, as I said, not thrilled about him being one of the "minor pieces" in the deal, but there are definitely ten guys more important to the future of this team.
  13. I'm not thrilled about throwing another first rounder into the deal, but I guess there are a lot of prospects I'd much rather hold on to.
  14. I would just like to do a quick financial analysis of this one. 2011 costs, as of the end of last season-- 100.5 million, via Cots. 12.5 for Ortiz 6.3 for Agon 2 million for Varitek Estimated 15 million between Papelbon/Ellsbury Total-- 136 million Last year-- 168 million Difference-- 32 million The only thing this team absolutely cannot do without is 2-3 relievers, because I think they may be done at C, and they could survive with a bench of Lowrie/Kalish/Salty. But that leaves a ton of money to continue to improve this team. Its looking like they have very good potential to put together a legitimate championship caliber team, and a ton of money to do it with.
  15. Most of the reports I've been reading say Kelly, Rizzo, Iglesias, + two other minor leaguers.
  16. Wait, is this a confirmation?
  17. I'm going to pull a Jacko on this one. I may have been arguing that there have been better options at 1B.... but now that we're likely getting him, this is pretty f***ing great.
  18. I think Lowrie is the kind of guy you can trade without losing sleep over. I absolutely would love to see him become a great player and stay healthy. But there are times that complete no-name prospects get traded and turn into stars, and you can't really blame the managers who traded them, because they just don't have it. I would feel like I'd have the same feeling with Lowrie-- if he stays healthy, it'd be a complete surprise to us all.
  19. He's one of those guys that isn't known to the press, but many experts would easily consider him top 10.
  20. It sort of feels like Christmas Eve. I certainly hope there isn't a Casey Kotchman in my stockings again this year...
  21. 4 top ten prospects and a first round draft pick? No chance.
  22. 5-6 prospects? That scares me... I hope they're not too high up there.
