f*** UZR and UZR 150. I saw the Yankees play about two dozen times in 2017. None of their OF is close to JBJ in defensive ability.

I am still in the dark as to how a player can be "worth" 25-32 mil. a year yet make only 13 mil a year.

I am all for austerity. But really the team is best served with a real 1st baseman. Hanley does not do enough of the Hanley things anymore to make the sacrifice of defense worthwhile. Feel free to post reams of stats to disprove my assertion ( opinion ). I get it now. You don't like Moreland and you don't like Holt. Two players that combined make less than 9 mil a year.

I have always though he was somewhat over rated but he was a Sox Killer so I'm glad that he is gone.

I'm fine with 5 years even though I hate long term deals for big money and especially for players at or over 30. I have doubts about Borass and JD signing a deal for "only" 5 years but it could happen. Most likely he will get 6 anyway. I would walk away from 6 or 7 because I think it is most likely he won't be worth jack s*** by then. I am one of the people that have been belly aching for a power bat or somehow more power. But I say stay away from this guy if signing him to another stupid crippling long term deal is necessary.

I think that he is. No doubt Hanley WAS a far superior player with his hitting and speed. But now he is old, too muscular, and in questionable health. His defense is passable at 1st. Moreland is what he is. A low OBP guy that rips the s*** out of the ball when he hits it. He also plays pretty good defense. Overall I expect Moreland to contribute more than Hanley on a consistent basis. He also costs less than 1/3 of Hanley. Stupid Ben signed two declining players to bloated long term contracts. That is why this team is in this situation again.

I agree. This post also shows how badly the Sox misjudged his value on a 4-5 year deal if he is only worth 6-8 mil in FA now.

I don't even know who that guy is. In any case, I like the Saints as my "favorite" NFC team because I think they got f***ed by Goodell and they have a nice, good coach and one of the best QBs the league has ever seen. BUT... I was sort of rooting for the Jets Sunday. Petty and that offense could not get anything going but the rest of the team played their asses off. The Jets this year have not been as bad as I had hoped.

Insane? Maybe. But what was DD to do when he took over a team whose rotation was a shell of what it had been do to the inexplicable malfeasance of Cherries? Sox needed a front line guy, and ace. DD went out and signed one of those guys because he had to. Yeah, 217 mil for 7 years is not a contract I would bet on to be worth it at the end. But I think it was a necessary evil at the time.

Pretty much. I just don't want to see the anti-Jacko sentiment blossom into constant attacks on the guy. He doe not deserve the attacks and it is unseemly and unnecessary. I give him s*** too sometimes. But I almost always do it in fun and he knows it. Whatever. People just need to chill and not take all this baseball stuff so seriously.
