  1. So I read that the Sox have now acquired another catcher from Arizona. That makes two so far in recent weeks. Are they just replenishing MiLB depth or are they about to try to move one of the incumbents?
  2. I agree but that is not a popular opinion in these parts I am afraid.
  3. Carson Smith signed for $850,000.
  4. Odd that you made your two assumptions and comment immediately after I posted. Must have been a coincidence.
  5. Nonsense. As for me everyone knows how I feel about big buck, long term deals. My point is valid and has nothing to do whit signing anyone else to a long term deal. It is about not having more flexibility in constructing the roster. Has anyone here advocated a 7 year deal for JD????
  6. But they do have poutine. That counts for a lot.
  7. It would be a lot higher if Boy Blunder had not shot the Sox wad on Fatboy and the Sloth. Imagine if this team had another 41 mil to spend.
  8. I have not been to Halifax since 1985 or so. But I liked it a bunch back then.
  9. The only issue I have ever had with Canada and it's people is that they sell milk in plastic bags.
  10. I just read a report that there are currently 3 teams with five year offers on the table for JD. The article did not say which teams and for how much but they did say Toronto, AZ, and SF are interested. I can see this turning really expensive for the Sox. I assume that one of the three teams is the Sox but the article was poorly written. No I don't have the link.
  11. Puig is a freak talent but he acts like a 13 year old boy. I would love to have that talent but I suspect his act would wear thin in Boston very quickly. Pass.
  12. I believe Abraham. He has pretty good cred when it comes to this stuff.
  13. For sure. I can't be certain of any of this as it is just what I have read. I was not there. But a player wanting to change his role is not enough to make it happen. From what Abraham wrote, Benny Boy was all aboard with the idea. That is why I say it was bad management. Of course I can not be certain. Just my opinion.
  14. The whole episode sucked. That kid slipped at the tail of the previous season as I recall but before that he was f***ing lights out. Just another example of poor management.
  15. Not thread worthy but I read that Danial Bard hung up the cleats finally. What a shame that he lost it. Most people blame it on his desire to be a starter or they blame Bobby V. Today Pete Abraham said that the decision to convert him was Cherrington's. Thanks Ben.
  16. I blame all this on Curt Flood and Marvin Miller.
  17. Yup. I will never forget what he did.
  18. Of course they will. They still have not announced the official tampon of The Boston Red Sox.
  19. Macholo IS a punk. I can't stand to even look at him. I have felt this way since long before the Pedroia collision. Never the less, he is very talented. I would never pay him 8/300.
  20. Cafardo was on Comcast last night and stated that he had several conversations with Douquette recently. He says tha Duke is very willing to trade within the division to the Sox or Yanks or anyone who offers enough.
  21. Yeah I don't know the exact dimensions but I am speaking of parks that have lowish walls in left and are not that deep. Lots of line drive home runs. Maybe I picked the wrong park to illustrate my point.
  22. My eyeballs say this as well.
  23. Don't forget all the line drives or other hard hit balls that clank off the wall for a single or double. Many of those hits would be home runs in places like Yankee stadium.
