  1. You mean Sam Travis I presume. I saw an interview with Chavis today from the Sox Rookie workout at Boston College. He seems like a nice kid but he also looks small. Another "Smurf".
  2. Yeah he was always being a prick when not on camera. I saw it plenty of times. Always yelling things at people and blowing that stinky f***ing cigar smoke everywhere. I used to sit up in a seat behind Johnny Most and shoot the s*** with him. He got to know me by name and would share his English Oval cigarettes with me. I used to run to get him coffee during games. That man was sort of unfortunate looking and most people might guess he was gruff but to me he was always a sweetheart. He would turn and see me sit down and say "Hey kid!". I had all types of interesting encounters and conversations with opposing players prior to games. Loyd Neal, Geoff Petrie, and Dave Wohl come to mind. I also spoke with Bob Love and Bob Weiss from the bulls. Love was a cool dude.
  3. I was a Bucks fan too. The Big O, Alcindor, Dandrige, Jones, etc. Big Lew was impossible to stop!!!!! Cowans was game as f*** and would bang with him all night. Just could not stop that hook. Big O was the most impressive athlete I had ever seen to that point. He would back you down to the baseline, turn and fire. Those were the days Moon!
  4. Exactly. Even members of the media have their heads up their asses sometimes. Yesterday Chad Finn from the Globe made a stupid statement about the Sox payroll being so screwed up that they could not sign a top starting pitcher. Of course I had to correct him by stating almost verbatim what Moon has said regarding signing a top pitcher AND still getting a second tier power bat like Morrison or Duda. The prick must have known he was wrong because he did not respond. Usually he responds to my provocations! He had no chance in this one as I posted all the cap info I had gleaned from Moon.
  5. How about Boy Wonder destroying the Sox rotation? How about signing two stiffs to to $20. mil /year long term contracts? No. Dave faced no challenges taking the Sox job. Everything was honkey dorry.
  6. Yup. The Knicks were stacked back then. I used to go to games against the Knicks as often as I could afford. It was just about the only time Cowans faced centers his own size! Aside from Willis Reed, that is. The NY guards were death! The Celts would play their asses off and still lose most of the time. That was a real rivalry. I have so many memories from hanging out at the Garden. Yes, it was a dump! But it was so much fun. One time before a game I sat behind the Celts game watching a preliminary game. Red Auerbach was sitting with Don Cheney's wife about 10 rows behind me. He yelled "Hey kid get the hell out of there. You don't belong there". Lol.
  7. Wow. Jo Jo White has died. I used to go to many Celts games when I was a young teen. I would get to the Garden about 2-2.5 hours before game time and watch players shoot around. I remember standing under the basket feeding Jo Jo and Hambone Williams balls. Jo Jo was a very good player. 7 time all star in 10 years. He had the most text book perfect jump shot. RIP Jo Jo.
  8. Nothing at this point. I like our big guys as they are. Maybe next off-season.
  9. I don't know! But he said he would pick you up in his car.
  10. He's a pitcher? All the better. I have asked our friend in the DR to pick you up at the airport on a donkey and that you share the ride with a chicken. He said he would gladly pick you up, but not with a donkey. He did say a chicken is a strong possibility. Looks like you are all set! Isn't it great to have friends that care for you?
  11. But most fans ( in my opinion ) are not that sophisticated. They just see a big name with big output and think this is what we need. Hence big splash signings like Fatboy. I don't agree with that thinking. I say act responsibly. It is a business and value should be a big part of the equation.
  12. Moon how much does that leave before the second limit is exceeded? I ask you because you are always on top of this s***. I want to know because it will determine how much the Sox can spend on new signings. Thanks.
  13. Of course I always respect your opinion. But the kind of money some of these guys make is obscenely out of balance with lifelong expenses.
  14. You are not alone in this thinking. Something has to break soon.
  15. I never saw him play. To me, his big moment was asking Nomar if he could smell the burning wood of his bat. That moment spelled baseball for me.
  16. Wow. I hope that you go and can meet up with our friend. Of course transportation is not what it is up here. There Uber is a ride on the back of a donkey. And you have to share the ride with a chicken.
  17. I think it's a bargain for his level of defense and moderate + offense. Of course I am sure that someone will "disprove" my opinion with all types of WAR s***. I also think the Sox are going to lose their Arb tussle with Betts. I don't give a s*** what Arb estimates or WAR say, that kid is worth 10.5 mil all day long. Why is Kelly worth 4 mil?
  18. That's cool.
  19. I guess I have learned that regression means something that it did not mean when I was younger. Sort of like Donuts being in the dictionary along with Doughnuts. Still sounds antithetical.
  20. I read something similar this morning. I don't think it was from Heyman but he could have been the original source. In any case I would go 5/140 and maybe, just maybe, 5/150 and then move on to what Kimmi suggests - starting pitching. I don't like the idea of "positive regression" as those two words used in conjunction make no sense to me. However if they mean good players remaining healthy and doing more of what they had done prior to 2017 I can live with it. Still, remaining stagnant with the offense is about the same as going backwards if the team does not score enough runs to win 93+ games again and or bows out in the first round or wild card. My question now becomes what pitchers should be targeted? Kimmi says a number 2 or 3 type which makes sense. I was thinking a 3-4 but f*** that if the budget allows for a #2 then I say do it. Who should the Sox target?
  21. Common sense is not a component of The Chart.
  22. I had heard that about both Smith and Thornberg. "Hard throwers". Probably hype.
  23. I am going to laugh my rather ample ass off if JD becomes the next S. Drew. I doubt that it happens but it would be funny as f***.
  24. I count 6 catchers at AAA and above.
