  1. I saw this kid Gray pitch last week against Texas. The kid dominates. I hope for the best.
  2. Any win is a good win. Capuano has been pretty much lights out until today. He was getting hit very hard. Unfortunately the Sox pen was motionless until it was nearly too late. I have no idea where Gomes was throwing that ball!!!!!! What a sloppy ending to a gem thrown by Lester. But, as I said, a win is a win! One more opinion. Just as it has been too early to give up on the Sox because of a "slow" start to the season, it is too early to proclaim that they have "turned it around". Rip off 3-4 series wins and let's see.
  3. Masterson????????? Lol. That would be cool.
  4. Ay least he made an effort and got on the field. Unlike the two previous closers the Sox signed.
  5. Pitch to contact and that can happen. 35 is a lot of bombs, though.
  6. Neither will happen, though.
  7. To be "fair", many people in the Boston area blame Remdawg for the actions of his Son. I'm not condoning this point of view. I'm just letting those on this board who do not live here know that there are people who are not in favor of Remy continuing with his NESN broadcasts. The entire subject is unfortunate. The big loser here is the little girl that will now grow up without her parents.
  8. And what does one's nationality have to do with this issue? And why would any of us be insulted by being labeled an American? Oh the burn!
  9. Welcome to the Rogue State.
  10. It's nice to see a Yankee fan give a fair assessment. I can't believe that the Yankees have not signed Drew. Are the waiting for after the draft so they don't have to cough up a draft pick? The Sox left side defense has sucked so far too. X is getting on the job training and has been barely serviceable most of the time. Third base has been a giant hole. At least now that Middlebrooks is back the defense at third will be "okay" and the Sox should get more offense from the position. The Sox starting pitchers have been so-so. Then pen has been very good, overall. So, both teams are just not that good right now.
  11. I'm convinced that Doubrant does not have the ability to remain focused on his job. That miscue by the pop to the left side may have done him in.
  12. I'm not comfortable with a 5-4 lead. The Sox will need more runs.
  13. This game started out very promising with the Sox taking so many pitches. What happened?
  14. Possibly. Who knows what the future will bring the Sox? Maybe Pedroia sustains a serious injury and Betts comes up? Maybe Betts fizzles or get injured? All types of things could happen or develop.
  15. Of course it is interesting to keep an eye on the kid! http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140430&content_id=73720602&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb
  16. Good morning. I see you all have been having fun.
  17. He's that bad? Wow. Again, I'm fortunate and very glad that I get to listen to Don and Jerry. They may be Red Sox employees but they do seem to remain objective when something like a close play happens. Their chemistry is unmistakably strong and for the most part they are entertaining when there is a lull in the action on the field.
  18. Up hear the trees are just starting to bud so the pollen has not become a problem yet. I'm thankful that I don't live in the panhandle. 20 inches of rain in 15 hours? But hey, no such thing as climate change!
  19. We we all love mosquitos! So let's celebrate the rain!!!!!!
  20. I was just a kid then. I seem to remember Hawk, Derek Sanderson, and Joe Namath were involved somehow. Something about clubbing in Boston. The Playboy club? In any case, you are right. Hawks flair was very different at the time. Long hair and unusual clothes. He also had some swat at the plate!
  21. Isn't this Bett's first year above high A ball? It's nice to get excited about any kid raking in the system, I know. But it's way too early to proclaim that he will "rock Fenway".
  22. Sox do need to get on a roll before Oakland hits town.
  23. Hawk was greatly admired in the Boston area because of his play for the Sox. I haven't heard his commentary but I certainly have nothing bad to say about him. As a Red Sox fan, I feel lucky that I get to listen to very high quality TV broadcast of the games. Although I am becoming increasingly nauseated by all the new money making crap like text surveys. I don't believe it belongs in the game.
