  1. I do agree that with the addition of Young Holt's value is lessened. Holt's presence can also allow carrying another pen arm at times when needed.
  2. I find most announcers for other teams are big time cheer leaders and bag-lappers. I did not say all, just most of the ones I have actually heard. The ESPN crews suck donkey dicks as well. I have been shockingly impressed with A-Rod. Lol.
  3. I was hoping you would clarify this.
  4. You are the only person on this board that lives in the DC area ( MASN? ) that does not mind the Baltimore announcers. Maybe I am confusing the TV and radio crews, I am not sure. But Baltimore announcers are known to be huge homers, I believe.
  5. He does find a way to do that to AAA batters. I like the guy and agree that he should and probably will have another try with the Sox this season. I am not so sure that he has enough "stuff" to face a steady diet of MLB batters as a starter.
  6. Yup. The flexibility afforded the 25 man alone makes him very valuable. No one seems to care about that, I guess.
  7. But what ever happened to that wonderful individual that sat behind the plate and yelled "DAMON, DAMON" the entire game. I miss him. NOT.
  8. The Trop may be a terrible dump but I still would like to attend a game there for the experience. Cow bells at organized events should be a crime.
  9. Plus he plunked A-Roid when he came back. I think?
  10. Well he did f*** a young Miriah Carey.
  11. The talk is both Rozier and Jackson will be gone as well as one of Bradly and Smart. That does not leave any depth at all.
  12. At the time the consensus on Talksox was that we should have gotten Werth instead. I always liked Crawford while on the Rays. He was always making plays against the Sox. But he was the wrong move.
  13. Bottom of the order slugs. Lol.
  14. No Kimmi. I get what you taught us about lineup construction. I have seen enough lineups this year and in years past to understand what the data says. Even 62 year old dogs can learn.
  15. Lol. I like wishful thinking!
  16. I agree. However I do think that it was very short sided to deal Shaw this early. I am not surprised that he has seemed to figure things out. Maybe he is a little better than Middlebrooks?
  17. Fister is not on the 40 man????
  18. NO!!!!!! Not now, at least.
  19. I sort of fiured he would be a doubles machine this year but he does continue to learn. The kid has a sweet bat. He will be a weapon.
  20. Lol. I like the raised "T". That is cool.
  21. I saw those guys play and they had a shitload of talent. But if these guys continue to play well and get better they are clearly better.
  22. So do I. I imagine someone will bust him with hooks and expose a weakness. It happens. But this kid has a solid approach and looks a lot like Ichiro. Just making good contact. He can throw the leather and he can run fast. I say stick with this kid and Merrero until they suck balls or Beltre is traded for. The Sox are in Texas. So as far as Pablow is concerned, "Stick a fork in him".
  23. f*** Devers. I'm on the Lin bandwagon for now. If they take this kid out of the lineup while he is hitting this well just to give Pablow another shot I will be pissed. Ride that horse until it stumbles. And if you are going for the brass ring this year and are convinced that you need a bonified 3rd baseman, I bet Beltre could be had at a sustainable cost since the Rangers are already 17 games out and heading further south from appearances. Beltre can still swat and is still a premier defensive player.
  24. I have concerns as well but they don't exactly align with yours. For the record I think the Celts got the best player for a need. They need a wing man that can fill it up. I have not seen enough of any of the top picks to say for sure if Tatum is that guy but the Celts do not need another scoring guard. They need a wing man that can grab some rebounds and play D. Tatum seems the best fit given those criteria. Again, just my opinion. Maybe Fultz will be a stud. Big deal. I really doubt that this guy is another Clarence Glover. What I don't like is what Danny will likely do to make cap space for Haywood. So far, Emir Johnson is gone, Tyler Zeller is gone ( but may be back ), Kelly Olynic is going to be gone even with the qualifier. They can renounce that. Danny will still need to make more cap space. Likely purges I have read will be Young, Green ( no big loses there ),Jerebko, Rozier, and here is the kicker, Marcus Smart. Talk is that Crowoder will be gone as well. That is gutting a team any way you look at it. All for a guy who is primarily a shooter. I reserve judgement until the dust settles. But I suspect that Stevens will have his work cut out for himself. This team, at this point, appears to be taking a step back. At least for the first 30-40 games of the new season. That is a lot of moving parts to coordinate and scheme for. The Celts will likely remain near the top of the heap in the east but number 1 or conference champs look less likely this season. In any case, the Celts are an interesting team. By the way, having a bunch of players who do the same thing is part of the team's strength which is depth. With so many players likely gone I wonder if that depth will still be there.
  25. I would like to see Farrell draw names from a hat every day for a while just to see if the lineup variation has a big impact on productivity. Of course whatever happens will be explained away as random and a small sample size. So much for my ideas!
