  1. *watches as half the site puts GOM on ignore*
  2. It's not going to go anywhere. You and Dipre are going to believe what you believe, and Dojji and I are going to believe what we believe. In any event we have no control over the matter so we'll see what Youk/the Red Sox decide. If the Red Sox make the playoffs then regardless the decision made here, it'll be the right one. To your NYY > Texas argument, I'd spin that to read: Beating Texas > Beating NY (at this point in the season)
  3. This is just a cycle, because then I'd say, "It doesn't matter, I think the Sox have a better chance of making the playoffs by trying to beat Texas than trying to catch up to NY."
  4. While that may be true, I don't think it matters because we need the Texas games more than the NYY ones in my opinion. I think NYY already has the division, and we need to bury Texas (and Tampa) if we want to get to the playoffs. I'd rather beat the Rangers than the Yankees. Plus like the other guy said, appealing it usually lowers the suspension, in this case probably to 4 games. If we get the suspension cut to 4 games while still allowing Youk to play both games against the Tigers and a few against the Rangers. He could miss all 3 games against the Yankees for all I care. I'm more concerned with the playoffs, not with the division.
  5. I think the Sox have a better chance of making the playoffs by trying to beat Texas than trying to catch up to NY.
  6. Plus the appeal means he doesn't have to miss these next 5 games, which would be 2 at home vs. the Tigers and 3 on the road against Texas. I'd rather have Youk miss a different stretch of 5 games than these ones, not to mention Dojji's point of buying time for a position player upgrade for the future absence.
  7. Not to mention that Hardy could actually field SS. That's just icing on the cake.
  8. If we DH Lowell, then who'd play 3rd? I'm fine with DH'ing Lowell and benching Ortiz completely while Youk is in the lineup so he can play 3rd and Martinez can play 1st, but when Youk is suspended Lowell should be playing 3rd. I mean I don't want to see Green or Woodward anywhere near third base.
  9. Textbook definition of a baiting troll. Well, at least you admit it.
  10. Plus Porcello trying to run behind Cabrera didn't make him look macho. Or him trying to act tough by yelling at the ump after he got tossed made him look as tough as your average internet bully. Porcello may have "won" the battle, "won" being in quotes due to the high number of stupid people who can watch a video in front of them and still have no idea what the f*** is happening, but Youk won the bigger battle as Porcello leaving the game hurt the Tigers and possibly cost them the game.
  11. So this is what a winning streak is. I almost forgot what one was like. See you in about a week Youk.
  12. Don't forget a Rays loss and a Rangers loss. Those are pretty good right about now as well.
  13. I've been to Fenway a few times. I go to the States frequently and the Red Sox are the only team of mine that I've had the chance to watch live. I've also been to the old Yankee Stadium. I know there's an Irish guy here and I thought that was it. At least in terms of recent/frequent visitors. I bet there were others before I joined.
  14. Welcome to talksox, mate. I'm happy to no longer be the only Englishman here.
  15. Hello and Goodbye troll.
  16. Holy crap we won. In the end that was mildly amusing, although we nearly gave it away yet again. For a second I thought we found yet another way to lose one.
  17. And if they want Guzman in the future, they cannot be blocked by a meddling third team.
  18. I personally doubt it. But I would make a horrible football analyst. Blackburn isn't completely screwed but I doubt they do anything this year.
  19. I hate the Steelers and Colts just as much as most New England fans do.
  20. I agree, but popularity certainly is not the reason why I'm a fan.
  21. Favourite English Team: Blackburn Favourite Champions League Team: AC Milan For the record I've got good reasons why I support all of the teams I do. I'm by no means a bandwagoner, despite the inevitable fact that many people will see me in that light.
  22. For an English team I root for Blackburn, but for Champion's League I'm a bit AC Milan fan. (I have family from Milan, heck much of my family in England came from Milan, Italy.) Edit: And for the record, I hate Chelsea about as much as I hate the Yankees.
