  1. Growing up I remembered the Angels playing the Yankees hard, much like Texas would play us hard. I used to like the Angels growing up because they were like a mongoose to a cobra.
  2. I don't think Bailey is bad, and I'm starting to think we didn't lose the Reddick trade by as much as I previously thought. Yeah, if we paid Papelbon I'm sure things would have been different the past few years, for better and worse, but other than being injured I can't really complain about Bailey.
  3. f*** the Cardinals for again screwing up my work league. Second time in as many weeks. (Not that anybody cares, but just f*** the Cardinals in general)
  4. Fair enough, I just like him as a player. And I want the Sox to have good players. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less.
  5. Even after two outings of 1 inning 2ER his ERA is still under 3. As a whole I'm happy with his success, although his injury concerns have been more of a problem than his effectiveness imo.
  6. My apologies for the blasphemy, but I wouldn't mind having Cano on the Sox. We'd have contracts expiring and his bat plays at multiple positions. (Obviously I wouldn't move Pedroia off of second) I probably deserve to get destroyed for the thought, I just like his power, durability, relative youth (he's just a year older than Pedroia) his decent defense and his decent strikeout/walk ratio.
  7. If only we could give Clarkin money to not accept the Yankees offers.
  8. I think Denney's unexpected savings really gives us a chance at Sheffield or Longhi. If we sign Ball and either Sheffield or Longhi, then this would be one of the first RS draft hauls I've been very excited about in a few years.
  9. Clarkin is a huge red sox fan anyway so we can talk about him in a few years when he spurns the Yankees and signs with Boston.
  10. It depends on how SD's system compares to ours. But if their system is comparable to ours, I'd love a 20th best prospect in exchange for Pedro Ciriaco. I doubt we'd even get a prospect, probably money and an aging AAAA veteran type player.
  11. Just a horrible sports day for me. Red Sox, Spurs, and technically the Bruins since the game finished well into the morning. God hates me.
  12. Damn this entire sports day to hell. f*** the Orioles and double f*** the Heat.
  13. I'm surprised that the Sox haven't drawn a single walk in 12 innings.
  14. It sounds like Jalen Williams is really on the fence. “My intentions right now are to attend college in the fall,” Williams said. “I’m still planning on attending Nicholls State in the fall to play football and baseball. If the Red Sox give me an opportunity that is too good for me to pass up, then I’ll take it. But right now at this moment, I still expect to be going to college.” “I was kind of discouraged when I wasn’t chosen in rounds three through 10, because I was hearing that’s where I could go,” Williams said. “But I’m excited to be drafted by the Red Sox, because I hear that they have the best pitching program for their pitchers in the minors.”
  15. I did find it a little surprising that the Sox went with 3 LHP in a row with Doubront, Morales, Miller. Is Breslow next?
  16. I remember him being mic'd up behind home plate during a game where there was a feud between the teams hitting batters. I believe Joel Pineiro was on the mound for the Angels at the time. Anyway, Joyce says to Pineiro and Scocsia "Look, I'm supposed to warn you and throw you out if you hit someone, but just pitch your game. You can pitch inside, but if it looks obviously intentional I'm gonna have to throw you out" (or something to that effect) I liked how he let the players play and was not quick to pull the trigger on anyone.
  17. We also had Valencia on our team and in our system briefly.
  18. According to SoxProspects, our 8th, 10th, 21st, and 24th round picks are going to sign, and our 29th and 32nd round picks won't. @jantzenwitte Any idea where they may send you? Gotta find out which team to follow. Jantzen Witte ‏@jantzenwitte 11 juni @klpound all I know is I leave for Florida on Thursday haha
  19. We're probably in a bullpen juggle since our doubleheader vs. LAA and the 14 inning series so you never know, but it won't be based on results. We could need someone to cover Buchholz potential start, but we could take advantage of that and have another bullpen arm for the Orioles series by using someone else. Good thing I don't have to make the call.
  20. It's always great to win a road game against a division rival, especially with some good overall pitching. Now on to the next series.
  21. I sat next to him at a (Trenton) Thunder game and he said his dream was to play with the Knicks. I was trying to convince him to quit baseball and do so.
  22. Whether by DFA, lecture about mechanics, or a bunch of pills and a copy of Toy Story 3.
  23. I heard on the radio today that the Boston pitching staff has served up the most walks to opposing batters in the majors for the season thus far. I figured it'd be weird to do that in a season not involving Dice-K.
  24. I feel like without even thinking about signing Boldt/Burkamper and if any of the other signs (other than Stank) were under slot, those should all make it a little easier to sign Sheffield. I'm not saying there are great odds, but those little things add up.
  25. The Spurs got humiliated in the previous game so they had to come back, especially while holding home court advantage.
