  1. Is anyone else surprised that K-Rod is 2 years younger than Papelbon?
  2. Even if he doesn't close for us he's a young arm that looks pretty good and can have a positive impact on our team.
  3. I hate baseball, this team, umpires, life, and sports in general sometimes.
  4. FWIW there seem to be a few relief options as well as starters on teams that should be sellers by the deadline. (I am in no way implying Papelbon, I just meant that we can always add another arm to our bullpen should we need it)
  5. The bright side of trading for Lee is that it'd help limit our walks. Cliff Lee consistently has a great K/BB ratio. (So does Uehara for that matter) Then again Schilling and Martinez were among all time greats in that category.
  6. Our offense can make AAA pitchers look like Cy Young candidates.
  7. I'm pretty sure there are people that would actually give a nut to see the Red Sox win another World Series. I'd do it for a Jaguars Superbowl.
  8. I can actually use the MLB TV subscription now that I no longer get Red Sox games. In CT I got Red Sox and Yankee games, now in NY I only get Yankee games and Mets games.
  9. Maybe we can trade Lester and Lincecum/Cain and see if they can benefit from a switch in leagues where they face batters that haven't faced them as much. (Joking obviously)
  10. I agree, there's a difference between "need" and "can use"
  11. While this is true, I think a difference with Toronto is that this is along the lines of how we expected them to play at the beginning of the year. (I guess the Angels are in the same boat, but the difference is Toronto has been getting healthier and returning players, so when Reyes returns it could be a spark)
  12. Blue Jays are back to .500 I believe.
  13. I guess now that it's 9-5 it means we won't be putting Bailey in for the save.
  14. It was by the same maker of the Yu Darvish gif. Both of which I believe are in the baseball gif's thread. I think I have them both saved in my photobucket account as well.
  15. After his last start maybe but otherwise I wouldn't have put Doubront near the top of anything.
  16. When I moved to my financial planning job in NH I showed up to my work with my car still packed for my apartment. I was living like a hobo out of a suitcase for a while. Didn't get cable/internet for about 2 weeks.
  17. I considered that "Fantasy Football" scoring vs. "Fantasy Baseball" Scoring. Whereby in the first one, it converts each event into a point score and whoever has the most points wins 1-0. And in the second one it separates each event and the owners fight for each category, and even if they lose overall they still keep the category, so they might win 6-4 or lose 4-6. (Kind of like the Colorado electoral college) I thought Head to Head and Rotisserie were something else. I thought head to head put you up against one person at a time per week and rotisserie was the entire league in a free for all per category. http://www.kffl.com/article.php/95010/516 Keeping score Rotisserie: Assuming a 12-team league, the team that has the most home runs has 12 points, the team with the second most has 11, etc.; the team with the fewest home runs earns just one. This is repeated for the remaining groups, with a maximum of 120 points (10 categories multiplied by 12 possible points) possible in a 5x5 league and 96 in 4x4. The minimums would be 10 and eight, respectively, although almost certainly no one reaches these high and low watermarks. Head-to-head: Each team in the league competes against only one other team over a seven-day span. Whoever leads in the specific categories at the conclusion wins the week. Although it's a fading format, some leagues assign point values to each statistic, much like in fantasy football, with the winner of each matchup for the week determined by whoever earns more points. For roto head-to-head leagues that count each category as a win, loss or tie, a perfect week in 5x5 would be 10-0; in 4x4, 8-0. Your score becomes part of your cumulative record. In formats that award a single win, loss or tie, whoever wins the most categories wins the week.
  18. How that dirt taste? After the Heat won yesterday I'm betting against everything I like as God clearly hates me. I'm betting that the Blackhawks will win the Cup too.
  19. I didn't realize fantasy baseball could get you negative scores. I thought it was just whoever won or lost the category.
  20. Maybe we can finally trade Lester for Johan Santana.
  21. It looks like Myles Smith backed out of the deal. Peter Gammons ‏@pgammo 1m when 5th rounder RHP Myles Smith backed out of deal, Bosox might run at 13th rounder Jordan Sheffield of Tullahoma(Tenn) HS, whose uncle is Smith's twitter "Pitcher for hire. #teamwhoknows?" Running for Myles ‏@thesmith_Wesson 30m @pgammo Myles never had a deal, he wants to sign. They r not acting in good faith
  22. When I moved I just threw stuff in boxes and bags and tossed it in the car. Haven't even unpacked half off the stuff yet.
  23. Fans need something to worry/complain/bitch/talk about. Not to mention standings are crucial to determining the shape of the division, and perceptions of "buyers" and "sellers" come the trade deadline.
