  1. I didn't learn those things from Sporcle (other than how to spell Kyrgyzstan) I just needed a place where I can show off my knowledge of the random categories and sporcle gives me that opportunity. I'm currently badge hunting on Sporcle so I need to put more work in. I wish I could use YOTN for any Star Trek quizzes that come my way. The 2004 Red Sox quiz was fun too.
  2. I honestly never remember who says what about whom anymore.
  3. Since this gamethread is taken over by Star Trek I think I'm going to go back to Max Payne 3, to hopefully finish it before I move on Thursday.
  4. I play those "Countries of the World" quizzes on Sporcle all the time. I can do most of the world flags and capitals too. I loved geography bees at school.
  5. He just had that pitch his way.
  6. Based on what how our bullpen is being used we might need them to piggyback one another.
  7. Let's just say I know more about the country Andorra than I do about Star Trek. Heck, I had to Wikipedia "Andorian" to even know that YOTN was referring to something from Star Trek, although since it's YOTN one could have guessed.
  8. If you're referring to the country Andorra, wouldn't it be Andorrian?
  9. For some reason I thought the gamethread would continue. I have no idea why I thought that. Anyway glad to win one, but might as well go for the KO, especially after losing 3 of 4 to Baltimore, we can use every win we can get, especially within the division.
  10. I'm a little worried about Aceves and Doubront being the two pitchers in a doubleheader and its effect on our bullpen, but Aceves likely could have gotten us 6 if it weren't for the rain delay, and Tazawa and Breslow only threw 12 pitches a piece. While Morales, Bailey, Beato, and potentially Tazawa and Breslow again can get us through the next game, I'd be worried as to what the bullpen would be like going into the Detroit series.
  11. I'll take it, a win is a win.
  12. It doesn't hurt the Rays since they were making a pitching change anyway whereas we might have to get into our bullpen an inning earlier.
  13. The other thing is that though we didn't play 5 innings, the home team was batting and had the lead so they might as well have played 5 innings. I don't think MLB sees it the same way though.
  14. He's 22 so I think the jury is still out, but he was awesome at UCLA, was the 3rd overall pick in 2011, and the D-backs got rid of him because he's an *******. And perhaps because he's also a really bad rapper. The D-backs sent him with Matt Albers and Bryan Shaw to Cleveland for Didi Gregorius, Tony Sipp, and Lars Anderson. I believe it was a 3 team trade where the Guardians also got Drew Stubbs and sent Shin Soo-Choo and Jason Donald to Cincinnati. Edit: And he's only like 32 innings into his career. I remember Roy Halladay having an ERA of 10.64 through 67.2 innings in 2000. (He was 23 that season)
  15. If you could put Halladay's mind on someone else's body I'd sign the hell up for that.
  16. I'm sure, and it's largely because the Sox are really good at getting on base, so when other players get out it's a lack of hitting with RISP more so than a team that gets out and doesn't have players get on beforehand. Baseball is a weird game, over the course of the season you gotta take the good with the bad, but it's still frustrating and tough to watch some times.
  17. Feels like it's been that way most of the season.
  18. At least they are getting Archer's pitch count up, and I am happy with most of the teams ability to draw a walk, but an offense like the Red Sox should really be scoring runs here.
  19. At least Aceves isn't the only one with control problems. Damn it Salty.
  20. I can't really take the D-Backs trades too seriously, especially after Justin Upton and Trevor Bauer.
  21. At least Tampa also lost 3 out of 4 (to the Royals), the Yankees had lost plenty out west to the A's and Angels, and Toronto swept a 4 game series vs. Texas. Hell even St. Louis lost 2 out of 3 to Miami.
  22. That said he's only making $7.75M this year, $11.25M next year with an option for $13M in 2015. It's certainly not the worst option.
  23. Eh, I'm not too enthralled with his success in the NL Central, let alone what it would translate to in the AL East. Then again I haven't watched him play in a while so I don't know what his "eye test" score would be. What's his velocity?
  24. My facebook feed is lighting up with Blackhawks fans whining. They don't realize that they really should be down 0-2 if it weren't for the "BABIP" gods. Yes, I realize I used a baseball term in hockey but that's the only way I can put it. Blackhawks fans are annoying me about as much as Heat fans are recently.
  25. Hell I feel like the Bruins should have had the first game based on how bananas the first OT was. There were at least 4 moments in the first game where I was wondering what act of God prevented them from winning.
