  1. Thank you. I was going to make that point but I responded to his other point and didn't think of this until after my lunch break.
  2. More worn down than the pitching staff that has to turn to the bullpen in the 5th inning because the starter gave up too many runs?
  3. But by that logic you can lose games by giving up runs and you can't lose games by preventing runs. Therefore if you take Standing Room's point and subtract value from giving up runs, and combine it with your point about adding value from scoring runs, they cancel each other out and we're right back to square 1.
  4. I don't think our points are exact opposites. My point in "preventing a run = scoring a run" is that if you have a defensive minded SS that prevents a run but doesn't score a run, it's 0-0. If you have an offensive minded SS that scores a run but doesn't have the defensive ability to prevent a run, it's 1-1. And my point in that is if Jose Iglesias has the silky smooth run preventing defense, then his bat becomes less of a liability and he's worth his spot in the lineup.
  5. Speaking of Jeter's exes does that make you an A-rod fan too?
  6. Although I did hear that you win 100% of games in which you score more runs than your opponent.
  7. You can't win a 1-1 game either, so if you score a run and give up a run on defense it's still tied.
  8. It'd be interesting what to do with Iglesias/Bogaerts/Cecchini/Middlebrooks but if they can all hit then there are definitely places on the field for the young talent. I think that preventing runs on defense is just as good as scoring runs yourself so Iglesias would have to be at SS, and he can have the job if he hits above the Mendoza line imo. I'm not sure who'd be the best fielding 3B between Middlebrooks, Bogaerts, and Cecchini, but I imagine if they can hit then one can play 1B, DH, or even be a platoon bench player. Add in JBJ and Ranaudo/Barnes/Webster/De La Rosa and we can have a lot of cheap young pieces.
  9. Meet me at Thunder's place and I'll bring over the goon platoon to take care of you soon.
  10. Low risk medium/high reward.
  11. If you say Taylor Swift I will drive to your part of CT and smack you.
  12. http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt38/italstallianion/witherspoon-legalblond-4-flash_zpsaf940027.jpg http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt38/italstallianion/jessica-alba_zpsa004971c.gif Edit: I had one of Jessica Biel from "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" but I can't find it. Oh and Heather Graham's Red Sox bikini in "Anger Management" or Alice Eve topless in "Crossing Over", or Angelina Jolie topless lesbian scene(s) in "Gia" I probably gave the teenagers in here some Netflix homework for tonight haha
  13. I agree, I feel like they can use a lefty (like Oliver Perez or what Andrew Miller was) and an arm like a Bobby Parnell, Matt Albers type. (I'm not saying that Parnell and Albers are the same type, I just mean a decent/good middle relief/set up option, especially if Morales, Wilson, and Miller are out for the year. Hopefully Wright can continue to cover mop up performances/piggyback starts and hopefully Workman can be a work man so we can work....man. (Two bad puns in a row)
  14. Is anyone else really in the mood for a red/white/blue popsicle?
  15. That part with Reese Witherspoon in the bunny suit. MMMMMMM. Probably my 2nd favorite non-porno movie part, which makes it about 10 trillionth overall.
  16. It looks like we got Longhi and Smith today and still have enough funds to realistically get 1-2 more guys at over slot prices. (We have about $850K to play with) The deadline is 5pm tomorrow, and while the majority of the unsigned BA ranked players said they weren't going to sign, with $850k left on the table I'd imagine we might get one more name. If not it was still a good draft class, but I'm disappointed we couldn't get Boldt or Sheffield, let alone Zammarelli, Nowaczewski, Burkamper, Thaiss, or even Beauprez. (He'd be the most likely from the group to sign imo)
  17. Now we can just sit back and wait for the draft signing deadline tomorrow afternoon. Hope we get at least one more guy to sweeten the pot.
  18. Exactly, who knows how many more innings he's going to have for his career, I think he's 29 now and this makes like 9 innings for his career, so I imagine he appreciates each one he has.
  19. Not to mention we are 4-3 in 7 games of this awful road trip. And if it wasn't for that god awful abortion of a 9th inning in Anaheim we'd be 5-2. This team fought back hard when we had to and we won some hard games. Unfortunately a lot of division rivals have been winning too, but at this point I'm happy just to keep pace while we're on the road. I'd be happy if we're 1-2 in Oakland and finish the road trip at 5-5.
  20. Even if we didn't score we built up Wilhelmsen's pitch count and we already faced Perez and Furbush so we had the majority of our bullpen relievers available and they only had a couple of guys left, most of which with an ERA over 5.
  21. Add in Matt Harvey too. And Jesse Carlson, and Aaron Hernandez. (Gulp)
  22. What a great relief appearance for Wright. I was a little surprised they didn't go to primary relievers when the game was tied and for the better part of the Mariners lineup, but Wright has been very impressive and gave us a chance to win this. We also passed Ibanez and Morales part in the lineup so hopefully we can do something with the heart of our order.
  23. I mentioned in another thread I think he'd replace Andrew Miller nicely.
