  1. I don't really care about letting Grissom go to LAA. He is a peripheral player. He couldn't OPS 800 in WOO. Trading your Opening Day Starter (per Alex Cora) for him, was really dumb though.
  2. I disagree. We'll have to see though. I don't think there's any chance the Sox and Giant do this deal.
  3. He used to be a guy who posted every day and was left alone. Now he sometime sits, sometimes is leadoff, sometimes is at the bottom of the order, sometimes is DH. It's not good for a guy in Duran's headspace to have to deal with that. He's had a terrible year because of it.
  4. That's not what the Giants will be asking for though. The Giants aren't asking for Story and Masa, the Giants want prospects. Why do they want Story and Masa? There's no benefit in that?
  5. His fielding is not at Beltre's level. Adames never had a season like Beltre showed in 2004 or 2010. Unfortunately, Beltre wasted a lot of his prime in SEA. Adames may be wasting some of his career in SF, but he's not a HOF player like Beltre. I think the contract is just too much for him. If it was through '28, fine. It's just way too long for what he provides. Sox have shown that they are unable to absorb bad contracts (Story, Masa) and even had to trade off prospects to eat some (Hicks).
  6. By winning %, it's the 15th worst Sox season of all time. 2020 was also worse by %. 8 of the 10 worst seasons were from 1922-1932 (before Grove, Cronin, Foxx and Doerr were brought in).
  7. Sox were 11-20 at Fenway in 2020. They were 13-16 on the road.
  8. Jarren Duran is having his worst season since 2021. Having him go back and forth between bench, DH and LF is a failed plan. It's not working. Sitting Masa doesn't work as he provides no flexibility for you off the bench as he can only play LF and DH. I don't mind a fulltime DH if the guy is a legit bat. If Anthony is that guy, fine. He might have that ceiling. Masa doesn't. Otherwise, they need to go out and acquire a legit power bat.
  9. If he INTENDED to fix the logjam, he should have just gone out and done it. You don't have to win every trade. Just fix the log jam. If he INTENDED to sign Bregman, he should have just extended him prior to the end of last year or just given him the no trade clause. Intentions don't matter. It's like the last trade deadline where he thought he had a deal with the Twins for Joe Ryan, but really wasn't anywhere close. He had no fallback plan by the time he realized a deal wasn't getting done. The fact that he wasn't working on a fallback plan at least for leverage is embarrassing.
  10. Yes. Where are the Cody Ross, Tyler O'Neilll, Adam Duvall, Hunter Renfroe types? Breslow couldn't even go out and get a Bill Hall! Breslow can build a staff, but has no clue on how to find hitters.
  11. "I'm going to come up with the singular dumbest way to construct a baseball team and spend a lot of money to do it." - Craig Breslow
  12. Juan Soto is not a good defender and that's not the direction this team is going! Need to win with pitching and defense! 😎
  13. They are 5M over the 2nd threshold. It gets them closer to getting under it. 🤑
  14. Oneil Cruz is a HORRIBLE CFer. He's a corner OFer in everything, but starting position. They didn't choose between Paredes and Durbin. They couldn't pull the trigger on a Paredes deal and I'm not sure HOU really wanted to trade him to begin with. If they did want to trade him, Brez really messed up. Durbin was the booby prize and they overpaid for him. They spent more on Durbin than they would have on Paredes.
  15. Having Duran/Rafaela/Masa/Anthony/Abreu all on the same unit doesn't work. Unless you are making Anthony a fulltime DH, two guys gotta go. Rafaela is your best option at CF. Abreu is great at RF. Sitting Duran doesn't work to keep him on track. DH'ing Duran doesn't work. Masa doesn't have the power profile that this team needs for a DH.
  16. Breslow has clearly done a tremendous job reconfiguring the pitching development. However, the hitter side has fallen off the map. I have no faith that they can know how to handle every day players ATM.
  17. Sorry, they're stuck with him! Should have kept Bloom for another year or two.
  18. Low level reliever? A ball flier? That's the return for IKF. It's just getting the contract off the books and swapping him with Capra/Seigler/somebody else.
  19. The problem with Grissom was that he had no options remaining and the Sox didn't want to commit to giving him a bench role. They didn't like his defense and didn't know where to play him. He's at the corners for LAA. A RHB with 92 wRC+ at 3b? 👀He's at least outhitting Monasterio. An IF bench of IKF/Grissom would have been fine.
