  1. And he never will.
  2. Red Sox always believe they have a certain value attached to each player. They wouldn't give a long contract to 30 year old starters. Don't want to go over 300M for a player. Whatever. Well, the market ends up passing them by at some point and they end up looking foolish.
  3. They had like 90M to spend and still be under the CBT. That was enough to field a competitive team. He couldn't find a SS. He couldn't build a rotation. They spent 30M on Duvall/Yoshida/Turner and it didn't really work out. Part of it was trying to make up for errors BLOOM made in 2022 (going over the CBT, signing an injured Story).
  4. He seems to be a good one. He's well spoken. Probably seems like a guy in line for a promotion to me...
  5. No, it was to clear salary not to take on different salary. C'mon... Now you're just making up a whole new story. It was for prospects only. This was leaked from the other team. I also may have been off about the timing. It was LAST YEAR after he broke his hand, so the salary forgiveness was 50M!!! Sox would have gotten under the CBT.
  6. How was the turnip truck today?
  7. You could do both if you fix the rotation and don't load up on DH's.
  8. Yes.
  9. They probably asked Theo and he noped.
  10. They've said it's TWO open positions possibly: CBO and GM.
  11. If I was hiring: CBO Brandon Gomes Kennedy: CBO Cora GM Romero Henry: CBO Mike Hazen
  12. The CBO should have the authority to change all those faces if he wants. If he doesn't like the Eddie Romeros of the world, he needs to be able to find someone new. I'm not sure how it works in other orgs, but the Sox seem to have a lot of long term employees that have stuck around for decades. Is that a Henry edict? If they are the right people, fine. But if they are the right people, then they might not have to necessarily go outside the org to replace Bloom.
  13. Also, are Eddie Romero and Alex Cora being considered as internal candidates for the CBO/GM positions?
  14. They wanted to stay under the CBT. I think they'll end up like 5M under. What's an additional 5M going to do? The problem was going over last season. Chaim probably should have been fired for that blunder.
  15. The ORGANIZATION has made many mistakes the past 5 years. Sale extension - DD Not extending Mookie - Ownership Going over the CBT in '22 and lack of willing to trade players that were on their way out - Bloom There is plenty of blame to go around. My only hope is that the new CBO and/or GM can be a steadying force and keep the farm trending in the right direction but also make appropriate moves regarding the MLB club rather than outright ignoring it.
  16. Duran in LF.
  17. Rafaela is a CFer. Duran is not.
  18. Whoever they get needs to be a clear improvement on Bloom.
  19. Wouldn’t matter. I’d give up Sale’s contract for a low A 25 year old.
  20. He didn’t say.
  21. He’s an asset that is gone after next season. They think trading him for a prospect or a pitcher will bring them more longterm value.
  22. Bernardino realized his career was over after Bloom was fired.
  23. The biggest problem wasn’t the win/loss but his inability to work with other GM’s and agents to get deals done.
  24. TBD vs Schmidt 1-0 since firing Bloom.
  25. They also had a trade at the deadline for Verdugo to HOU which is where all the drama came from.
