    @ChrisCotillo Red Sox have added IF/OF Eddy Alvarez (50 career MLB games with Marlins, Dodgers) on a minor league deal. He goes to WooSox, per their game notes.

    No, it's just picking which day to start: the bullpen day or the Pivetta day. Either is fine for now. If he can get stretched out, I would eventually prefer him to not be paired with Pivetta.

    Right now, they don't really have the arms in AAA to make that plan viable over a long stretch. It has worked out so far, but there have been too many Orts and Garzas that have been brought up. There are better arms in AA right now that this option could work for though (Liu, Wikelman, Dobbins, Guerrero, Zeferjahn, etc.) in the future.

    Most fans are more knowledgeable about the wins and losses than what Eovaldi is actually up to these days IMO.

    1.80 ERA 3.82 xFIP He's been good in a shorter role, I don't think he can turn the lineup over consistently. He struggled doing so in AAA. I don't see how that could get better in MLB. He's been better in the pen, just leave him there.

    Dodgers will use him as the 13th guy on the roster. He'll be the last guy off the bench, but someone who can fill a lot of holes when needed and a good clubhouse guy.

    Will cost too much. The strength of the Sox system is 2B/SS so it doesn't make a ton of sense to spend capital to bring a struggling player to fill those roles. 689 OPS since June 1

    I think I'd rather use Sale at the start of the bullpen game instead of the Pivetta game. There, he'd have a chance to go 2-3-maybe 4 innings and lighten the load on the pen.

    Eovaldi isn't the picture of health. He's only thrown over 150 innings once since 2016. I can't blame them for trying to give him an extra day here and there. They are with him day in and day out. They probably know when his arm needs another breather.

    Is this team THAT much better than last year? I'm not entirely sure. They are waiting on injured pitchers to come back. About 2 games back from the expanded WC spot. This team could go either way. They are really running well with a red hot Pivetta, who is also known to get ice cold pretty quick. 86 wins might not be enough to sneak into the playoffs this season.

    Chaim alluded to not spending heavily at the trade deadline. I don't think we get any high end starters. More likely they get a mid to back end rotation guy if anything. Snell's value has peaked too high right now.
