  1. @ChrisCotillo What did Chaim Bloom learn from Boston's weird 2022 trade deadline? "Chances are, whatever you do when you're in that position, you're not going to get in. That was the fact we were looking at."
  2. Speed? Negative career BsR. 26th in Sprint Speed for 2B. Slower than Michael Chavis.
  3. @alexspeier With the deadline coming closer, Chaim Bloom says the Red Sox won’t think in terms of buy/sell but rather the “North Star” of continuing to bolster an increasingly promising core. That could mean… a lot of things. They aren't going to do s*** at the deadline.
  4. They aren't fully healthy though?
  5. He'll be 29 next year. Why worry about what he does if he leaves. Worry about him being a replacement level player and taking up room on the active roster.
  6. That's not what you guys were saying though?
  7. They aren't going to bring up Rafaela before he's ready. Story is going to be up pretty soon. They are going to keep Chang/Reyes/Arroyo around for 2B. Rafaela's best skill is playing CF. Defense at 2B is diminishing his overall value. It could make more sense if they saw him as a lengthy fill in at SS, but I think they want to give him time in AAA.
  8. Game-calling is the most nebulous of all catching skills.
  9. They've been trying to trade him since Spring Training. Not a big market for guys like Dalbec.
  10. Yeah, no guarantees that the injured guys come back at 100% or don't take 4-6 weeks to get there.
  11. The biggest reason Wong is the better catcher now is the changes to the running game in 2023. Guys like McGuire won't be able to keep up going forward. It's a large reason why Nathan Hickey will have to be moved off the position.
  12. You would have India through 2026, but are paying for a guy who has only put up 1.6 fWAR since 4/1/22. His -19 DRS and -12 OAA is 2nd worst in MLB at 2B from 22 - 23. I can't say that's a "legit" 2B. Unfortunately, his arm isn't strong enough to be moved to 3B either as it's worse than any current MLB 3B. Even in his rookie year, he rated out as the worst rated OAA 2B.
  13. His pitching has been horrible all year. There's no value left in his arm. The start proved that his velo is only trending even worse.
  14. RedSox lineup tonight (wRC+): Jarren Duran LF (136) Justin Turner 2B (126) Masataka Yoshida DH (142) Rafael Devers 3B (127) Adam Duvall CF (121) Alex Verdugo RF (111) Triston Casas 1B (121) Connor Wong C (92) Yu Chang SS (60)
  15. CERA is only valuable if it's promoting the argument you are for.
  16. Kluber took the loss in Game 1 for WOO today. 3 runs in 2 innings. His heater had an 87 mph avg, max of 89. All velo was down from the YTD avg.
  17. Sox re-signed Frank German. Didn't see that posted elsewhere.
  18. @McFarland_Shawn The Rangers will skip Nathan Eovaldi's start vs. Houston. His velo has been down in 4 of his last 5 starts, though Bochy said a rest day was pre-set. His FB (-2.4 mph), cutter (-1.9 mph) and curveball (-1.6 mph) were slower in his last start vs. TB.
  19. NYY are ranked 27th...
  20. FanGraphs now has the Red Sox ranked as the 5th best farm system after the most recent draft.
  21. Your karma ran over bell's dogma, its name was juju?
  22. It might get mildly better, but he's not a good fielder by any stretch. Fenway is not the issue.
  23. I just watched that replay a few times. It was basically a can of corn pop fly that he was able to slow up to catch. I doubt that there were "plenty" of leftfielders that couldn't make that catch.
  24. Wonder if those other executives feel any shame for saying that Masa was an overpay?
