  1. He was the Sox #1 prospect at the time for sure. Sanchez was a good prospect too.
  2. Send Duran and new paddleboard. Get the team a travel tattoo artist.
  3. It was 2AM and the lights came on at the bar. Henry and Bloom were the last two left. May as well go home together.
  4. Sammy got very defensive when he was questioned about the desirability of the open job. We can see why now!
  5. He brought Raffy a cake!
  6. Per McAdam: It is unknown if Hill has interviewed for the position yet, or even if he has signaled interest in the role. Right now, he's just another name.
  7. I think they need to trend in a positive direction. I thought that's what would happen in 2023. It did not. Without seeing the lineup, I'm not going to prognosticate. I also have NO CLUE about what John Henry wants to spend.
  8. Harmony is always stuck on the AL West vs AL East gimmick since his team can't actually win a title. He needs to live vicariously through other franchises.
  9. Only one interviewee for the position so far: Eddie Romero. Sox still looking for others. Just due diligence?
  10. Kennedy is like Grima Wormtongue for John Henry. He needs to go. He played a large role in the souring relationship between DD and ownership. When DD didn't want Sammy in baseball meetings anymore, Sammy complained to JH and DD was fired. This was reported by McAdam a few days ago.
  11. Hanley was #30 for Baseball America the following spring. Sox also got Lowell and Mota.
  12. Whose expectation?
  13. The FO needs an enema. There's about 4-5 people that need to go just to give the new CBO room to breathe.
  14. It doesn't matter if you have an extension of a framework worked out. The value of Mayer over the next 6 years is higher than Soto for 1 year.
  15. Chapman seems like the third amigo in that group.
  16. I figured a Burnes, Yamamoto, Morton offseason was a bit of a stretch, but that's just me? That's why I said temper the expectations...
  17. How's the search going? According to McAdam: According to multiple sources, the Red Sox have been been met with a number of rejections by some targeted candidates as they seek to find a replacement to replace Chaim Bloom, fired in September. Some of those prospective hires have been put off by the level of turnover that’s taken place in the Baseball Operations department over the last dozen years or so. The new hire will be the fifth person in charge of the department since 2011. And increasingly, sources add, there’s concern about the surrounding infrastructure. The new hire will not only be inheriting manager Alex Cora, whose job has been guaranteed by ownership for at least 2024, but also, a front office that includes several executives who’ve been part of the organization for more than two decades, along with various other department heads who come with the job. Sam will still be there. Eddie, BOH and Cora will still be there. How will the new CBO have any autonomy. They're basically being plugged into the Red Sox machine and expected to completely change the results somehow.
  18. Only so many pitchers that can be acquired. I think some expectations need to be tempered.
  19. More than likely.
  20. Problem is that signing Duvall isn't "adding" to the Sox, it's just not taking away.
  21. Does Theo's "bridge year" comment count?
  22. MLB is probably excited that people are TALKING about the division series even if there is controversy. Baseball is so far behind other sports that not many people care anymore.
  23. His glove isn't as good anymore, but he has the position versatility of coming up as a corner IFer. I think he could play all over the place if they wanted him to.
  24. Sox had a big problem with too many DH's this season. Signing JD would be a mistake. They need to treat Masa as if he's the DH going forward.
  25. Just not during the season though?
