  1. Important upcoming dates: Nov 6: FA can sign with new teams. Nov 6: Contract options are due. QO offers are due. Nov 7-9: GM meetings. Nov 14: Deadline for Rule 5 protection. Nov 14: QO decision by player deadline. Nov 17: Non-tender deadline. Dec 3-6: Winter meetings. Dec 5: Draft lottery. Sox have 12%ish chance at lottery pick. Dec 6: Rule 5 Draft extravaganza!
  2. All I'm saying is CONSIDER IT. I'm not saying go and make it the first move. If you can get a really great pitcher for Mayer, you should do it. Mitch Keller? No. Someone that is clearly a #1 or close to it.
  3. If it's solely money, they throw it at 2 starters and trade for the RHB because there aren't many available in FA this year.
  4. One out of three ain't bad.
  5. Would you rather have Mayer play some pretty good ball for a long time and no rings or trade him for a TOTR starter and have a better shot at another ring?
  6. Just didn't cut it enough in 2022.
  7. Henry stated a the winter event that they weren't going to go over in 2023.
  8. Sox have money, but these pitchers are coming off the books from somewhere else. The only team that is really closing up shop is SD. Everyone else will still have their share to spend.
  9. How did they feel about Lynn? He retire here? Mookie still here?
  10. If they could acquire both guys, Ben would be happy to.
  11. He left Casas and that's about it. Nobody else had trade value at the time he was still here. Everyone else was so far away and hadn't climbed the ladder yet. Even Houck was an after thought until 2020.
  12. So don't trade Bagwell for Larry Andersen? Trade the top tier prospects for starting pitchers not setup guys.
  13. Seems like an overpay for Bednar/Keller IMO.
  14. I can't answer your question. I just believe he won't let Nola leave Philly. DD builds all his teams on stars. Without them, he has nothing.
  15. Ben loves prospects. I think if you dangle a shiny object in front of him, you can get him to bite.
  16. Cautiously optimistic? I think they get one really good to great arm and probably another starter of some sort. Not sure what else they do. I just think we need a year off from force feeding the fanbase the buy low options.
  17. They just don't let Henry in front of a microphone because they believe he has foot in mouth disease (aka he says stuff they don't want to be public like "hell yeah we're going to be under the CBT this year" which then get edited out of the NESN broadcast).
  18. You use the farm to develop talent into future stars AND to trade as assets when the need arises. We've seen from the previous few years that this team has a huge hole at starting pitching and there isn't a lot of help in the minor leagues. If they are going to move him for an impact arm, it would make sense.
  19. I don't think PITT does that trade even though the numbers work out on BTV.
  20. It's NOT in abundance though. Everyone else will be bidding on it too. Nola won't be leaving the Phillies because DD loves his stars. Texas is going to overpay for Montgomery. Ohtani is hurt. Urias is garbage. That's 4 big names already off the board. I guess the Sox bid on Yamamoto against everyone else? That leaves Gray, Snell, Lugo, Gibson, Flaherty and worse. Cardinals stated they wanted 3 guys so they'll be in the bidding on at least 2 of those. Mets will probably go hard for somebody. Will Sox fans be happy with Yamamoto and Giolito? Maybe Crag goes after Snell because he loves velo and he throws harder than the other guys mentioned?
  21. They could trade a guy like Duran for Bednar maybe? Mayer has too much value for Bednar. Per BTV: Mayer Rafaela for Reynolds Bednar Cruz
  22. For a reliever? No.
  23. They'd be dumb to not at least consider trading a guy who is already injured and may not pan out for an established starter.
  24. A Rookie of the Year win or a top three finish in MVP or Cy Young voting in his pre-arbitration seasons would net the team that extra draft pick. If the international draft is implemented, he could earn the club a selection if second or third in Rookie of the Year, or fourth or fifth in Cy Young.[/i I believe that the Sox don't get a PPI pick as there is no International Draft yet. I've looked but haven't seen anywhere that states that 2nd or 3rd place gets an amateur draft pick or international money.
  25. Stop being a bitch and accept that Devers and Casas are fine where they are.
