  1. Yes, it's an overpay when you compare it to other extensions signed. For a guy with iffy MiLB offensive track record and NO MLB track record, it was a risk extending him for that amount. His defense is flashy as f***, but he also had 9 errors.
  2. I'm not looking for him to be a fulltime starter, just to split with Valdez or whatever. Just to be a cheap fill in until a better option comes along next year.
  3. The Monster takes away some homeruns, the damn 406 club or whatever they want to call it takes away even more IMO. Superimposing a spray chart won't give you actual homeruns unfortunately. In 1969, Rico hit 55% at home (22). In 1978, Rice had 61% at home (28). In 2009, only 42% of Bay's homers were at Fenway (15). In 2018, only 41% of Betts' homers were at Fenway (13). Wade Boggs was a huge opponent of the 406 club back in the 80's after the construction and stated that the wind patters changed how the ball carried.
  4. Winckowski is not worth 50% of the Yoshida contract. That's laughable.
  5. They shouldn't be large enough to hurt the Sox financially, but Henry seems so overly tight fisted now that you really have to think about EVERYTHING.
  6. For a 666 OPS, it's still a massive overpay. Even if you projected him to hit 750, it's an overpay for such an early extension.
  7. Hasn't played much SS so I was just sticking him at 2B. Can't say I've seen a memorable Rockies game in a while.
  8. One thing is for certain, the Sox are playing so well that it keeps some goobers away.
  9. I don't think a backend starter gets you much. We had high hopes for Pivetta going into the season considering his turnaround last year, but that seems to be out the window at this point. Not much meat left on the bone. He's a very low ceiling guy. Martin's skillset is much more valuable to teams that are in contention. Fortunately for the Sox, they are in contention this year so I don't think either will be traded if the Sox continue their current trajectory.
  10. On the flip side, Yorke has stayed hot and has had a hit n 14 of 16 games for WOO with a 991 OPS.
  11. Lugo falling back to earth in AAA. 192 AVG 742 OPS
  12. He said that on June 1. They went 6-6 for the first 12 games after he said that. If it was well timed, they wouldn't have waited 2 f***ing weeks to go on a run IMO.
  13. Shoe betcha!
  14. I bet the Sox could get Brendan Rodgers from the Rockies if they wanted and just used him as a platoon guy.
  15. Ballpark Factors for Fenway: RHB HR - 19th RHB 2B - 7th RHB H - 3rd LHB HR - 16th LHB 2B - 1st LHB H -3rd It's a park to get on base and score runs, but it's not a launching pad for dingers. Especially not a launching pad for homers.
  16. The cash payments don't mattter. What matters is the AAV that hits the luxury tax threshold (9 AAV).
  17. Stanton back to the IL with hammy. Home sweet home for him.
  18. Jays top hitting prospect Orelvis Martinez was suspended for 80 games (PED) 48 hours after making his MLB debut.
  19. They are paying Bello 9 AAV PRE ARB!!!! Christopher Sanchez just signed an extension for 4/22.5 (two option years after). They aren't the same pitcher, but that's what a reasonable extension looks. I liked the idea of extending Bello and Rafaela, but it was too much money for a team that is overly mindful of its budget.
  20. Pivetta since coming back from the IL:. 9 GS (3 QS) 46.2 IP 4.82 ERA 4.92 FIP 791 OPS He has not been good and would not fetch much of a return.
  21. Fastball/Slider guy. Most likely back end or bullpen guy.
  22. Not sure if the hype got to him. They've also changed his pitch mix. It's fine for us to not appropriate grade him, but a big miss for the Sox and his extension IMO.
  23. On Giolito, there is a 14M club option for 2026 if he pitches under 140 innings next season and a mutual 19M option if he pitches over.
  24. 2 prospects for O'Neilll? A team would have to be pretty hard up for him. Also, the Sox really enjoy having his bat in the lineup. Jansen and Martin combined have a much higher trade value than O'Neilll IMO, Pivetta too.
