  1. It didn't work for Mookie either, that's why the Dodgers had to move him back to the IF this year.
  2. Have you been watching the games? He's not good over there. He hasn't looked any better than last year from what I've seen.
  3. You feel sorry for Henry's checkbook? Didn't know you leaned that way!
  4. At least Devers can hit. Just put a defensive minded SS next to him and you're good.
  5. Not if he can't field 1b.
  6. This is what Alonso has earned so far: 555k 650k 675k 7.4M 14.5M 20.5M Casas is well behind Alonso right now. Why would the Sox buy out ARB years when the next 4 years may only AAV 10M?
  7. Not true. Pitchers get TJS within the first 100 days moreso than the rest of the season. The only difference is that the names this year are bigger. Over the same time period: 2024: 16 pro pitchers, 9 MLB 2021: 47 pro, 11 MLB 2015: 39 pro, 9 MLB 2014: 38 pro, 11 MLB In fact, the 16 professional pitchers getting TJS is the lowest amount in the first 100 calendar days since 2013!
  8. Neither are 5th starters.
  9. A reasonable post? On here?
  10. On Rafaela, he needs to get to a 700 OPS but with that low BB rate, it'll be tough for him to get there. Right now, he's the bad version of JBJ but without the BB's. JBJ was a year in year out 90 wRC+ or better type guy and we had to hold our nose during some rough stretches.
  11. @kileymcd LHP Jordan Montgomery has hired Wasserman’s Joel Wolfe & Nick Chanock as his agents, per sources. Montgomery was one of the Boras Four, who were unsigned late into free agency. I projected he would get 5 yrs, $106M and he eventually signed for 1 yr, $25M w/Arizona on March 26. Wonder if any other Boras clients bounce.
  12. Starting when? Is he really deserving of Freddie Freeman money? Why pay out that much during arb years?
  13. I wouldn't extend Houck because he hasn't shown any reliability at all. If they could extend Crawford at 6/45, I think you go for it. Otherwise, why? These aren't top tier guys. They paid Bello as if he was going to be a 1/2. He's not there. They paid Rafaela as if he's a guaranteed MLB starter. He's not there. These guys are Acuna, Albies or Strider. Casas wants to be paid like it, but he can't even field his position.
  14. Stuff+ leader Kaleb Ort. If his Stuff+ was so good, why didn't he pitch good?
  15. From what they were in 2023? Yes.
  16. The soft underbelly now throws 100 mph.
  17. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/04/breslow-red-sox-arent-close-on-additional-extensions.html “(It’s) impossible to handicap perfectly what the chances are of getting another deal across the line. I would say, I don’t see anything as particularly close right now,” Breslow told reporters (link via Rob Bradford of WEEI). “I do think it makes sense at some point to focus on the season and give players some clarity around what they’re trying to accomplish every day and give us a chance to kind of assess more broadly what we’re trying to accomplish, what our vision is. So I wouldn’t ever say never, but I think it’s unlikely.”
  18. He has the same flaw he's always had. He chases everything near the plate. I wouldn't feed him any good pitches if I was the opposition. He swings at balls 6"s out of the zone every game. This causes him to either K or make lots of weak contact. He's never been able to fix that. We've been saying this for a long while now. More likely he has 2-3 good weeks than 2-3 good months.
  19. Interesting that you expect offensive improvements, but assume the starting rotation can't improve.
  20. I wouldn't count on a full year from O'Neill. Duran is the dropoff from Turner (23 HR, 86 R, 96 RsBI for the old folx). Duran is hot now, but I think he'll cool off at some point and will end up below Turner's 114 wRC+ from last year (it was closer to 130 during August).
  21. Yes. It's still a long season, but right now it looks like the best they can hope for is a slight downgrade from last year's offense. Someone is really going to have to step up BIGLY for the offense to get to 800 runs. Rafaela would have to hit like it's AAA. Casas and Devers would have to hit like near MVP's.
  22. Will the Sox regret their two extensions?
  23. Fielders are NOT better than they used to be. No way. I don't believe that for a second. If pitchers are better, are you going to give Yoshida less of a hard time for struggling or no?
