    I'd do the deal with Abreu today. The Campbell deal would only work if Lopez is 2023 Lopez going forward and the Sox are planning on competing the next 3 years.

    It's probably a fair trade. I like 2023 Lopez a lot more than 2024 Lopez. My question would be what happened to him last year and is there an expectation that he's going to look more like that going forward? If so, it's a no from me dog.

    Was listening to the newest SoxProspects podcast with Red Sox Player Development Director Brian Abraham and Brian said "if a player reaches AA it gives you a better idea if they are a suspect or a prospect." I believe my car airbags went off and sent me to TalkSox Valhalla.

    I don't think 2020 is the problem here. He gets a big time pass for that. The reason he got fired was 2022 and 2023. By that time, he should have been able to figure out the payroll issues.

    I don't think he's going to automatically look at his watch in three years and go: TIME TO GET RID OF BRESLOW! He may fire him sooner. He may take another year. He may keep him on. Who knows?

    I'm not desperate and don't even believe the narrative. Does that sentence work for you? Has he replaced the GM/CBO/guy everyone here thinks is in charge every 4 years since Theo left?

    Valera is the clear #1. I'd put Reyes 2, but that's just me and probably just projecting more into the future rather than current performance, but I do really get hot and bothered about scoreless streaks (see: Monegro, Yordanny).

    The role Dombrowski played was not at all analogous to the role that Lucchino played. It was clear that when Dave came on board that Ben's role was GREATLY diminished. There's a reason we're complaining about Dave Dombrowski's moves and not Mike Hazen. BOH was GM for 4 years and we haven't had a complaint sesh about him! It's clear that something changed with the hiring of Dombrowski.

    Bloom did half the job. He helped rebuild the farm, partially, but didn't keep up the bargain on the MLB side. He really didn't develop much pitching wise and let the MLB team fall into disarray. While the farm became highly ranked later on, it wasn't enough to keep his job. It would be enough if he was the CBO of the Rockies or a lesser team.

    Ben Cherington did spend. He won a 2013 WS with FA acquisitions. His problem was he spent poorly: Hanley, Pablo, Rusney so he had the keys taken away.
