  1. The Sox aren't attempting to rush him back. He was just saying how great he feels and he was aiming to pitch this season. He had the Story procedure, not the full TJS.
  2. Romy can field any position except for C and has hit the ball much better in MiLB than Meidroth has. Meidroth still needs to show that he can handle AAA for a longer period than just one month. If Meidroth can't backup SS, I don't see the point of him on this team right now. Kavadas is superfluous. He can't platoon with Casas or the starting DH. He can't be moved to any other position.
  3. It's also more in line with his career numbers than his current ERA.
  4. Nobody else can backup 3B and Raffy isn't exactly Cal Ripken Jr over there.
  5. Giolito is saying that he's going to pitch this year...........
  6. Cooper is bland, but considering the lack of RHB, I think he sticks on the roster through the end of the year.
  7. Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. The other stuff is definitely averagish. It's good enough to get by with a carrying tool. I'm not sure about speed though. May be slightly below average?
  9. Statcast compiles is and sells it to teams I believe.
  10. I've heard that may be the case with Bleis in Salem right now as well. 245 BABIP for an athletic guy like him is very unlucky.
  11. Sometimes. For example, Blaze Jordan really struggles with velo and has to put the ball the other way. He can't get his full swing on it which reduces the exit velo. If he gets something in the low 90's, he can pull it with authority for 400+.
  12. And he has a good bat to ball skillset. However, it is just unknown if he can thread that needle in MLB. It is very rare for someone with his profile to succeed at the highest level. If he had more speed and a better glove, I think there'd be a lot more excitement around him. He's a smart player and he seems to be getting as much as he can out of himself, but there's always an unknown ceiling. The worry is that more advanced pitchers will just challenge him over and over again knowing that he won't be able to punish anything in the zone. Why walk him if at most he can do is get a bloop single?
  13. He makes a lot of contact, but it's weaker than average contact.
  14. There is private data that Statcast doesn't give out that SoxProspects has, but you can also go to the individual game feeds to see exit velos and such for any park that has the right equipment.
  15. It's only been 11 innings. You can chalk up a lot of his success to SSS.
  16. Why add players to the 40 man when you don't have to? Other guys will have to come off the IL at some point and push them off? Unless they are calling up Meidroth, there's no reason to add him.
  17. It's just adding Kavadas solely because Casas is injured. If he's coming back in 2 months, you have Kavadas stuck on the 40 man in AAA thanks to the Sox current LH DH.
  18. Statcast has exit velos on AAA games and some other MiLB games now.
  19. Boggs was able to utilize the Green Monster and hit lots of doubles. Meidroth is a singles hitter who rarely hits the ball beyond 200'. He only had 19 doubles last season.
  20. It's still bottom 10th percentile in exit velo for MLB.
  21. Criswell: 2.38 ERA, 4.57 xFIP He's not walking anyone and is keeping that WHIP low. If they can get him in and out without getting into trouble, they may stand a chance. He's definitely outclassed by Webb. SF offense is ok, but they aren't going to make any mistakes on defense, unlike the Sox.
  22. If they were comfortable with Meidroth at SS, he'd have a shot before Sogard IMO. Benitez seems to have a good shot at joining the bullpen. Kavadas may be stuck in AAA now that they got Cooper.
  23. Fitts - maybe Gambrell - maybe Guerrero - maybe All the other guys are either further away or are too one dimensional to add to the 40 man roster this year. They made a mistake in adding Hamilton to the 40 man last year and now they are stuck with using him. They shouldn't do the same thing with Hickey, Jordan or Yorke until they are forced to add them due to Rule 5 restrictions. Sogard is really just an org guy. He's this year's Fitzy. Not sure if he get added.
