  1. I have Hamilton as my first guy to be DFA'd. He has value to a contending team that can stash him on the bench. That's not what the Sox need right now. He's a wasted roster spot for them because he just can't play defense. They need guys with more than just speed as a tool.
  2. We're using every man available this year.
  3. High walk rate, stuff is whatever. I don't think there's a high ceiling for him. He's already 29.
  4. The only problem is that he may struggle when he gets to MLB without a harder contact %. There is not a long list of guys who succeed without being able to hit the ball hard here or there especially if they don't have speed as a carrying tool. He can take a walk, but that will only get him so far. I also disagree that 1B is his best position. He's been average at 2B and 3B and he doesn't have the size for 1B.
  5. He'd be better at 2b/ss/3b than anyone we've put there except Story. His SS defense is on par with Rafaela's I believe.
  6. Dobbins - yes Paulino - no Jordan - maybe, he'd be behind Kavadas/Hickey/Meidroth Bastardo - probably as his stuff has ticked up this year
  7. DFA List (in order): Hamilton Dalbec Guttierez Mata Valdez Uwasawa Walter Anderson
  8. Yes! They shouldn't add anyone to the 40 man. That way it won't reduce anyone's CONTROL.
  9. Not an easy play for sure, but not a gimmie tag situation for Duran. Swanson has a stronger arm than Mookie which is insane to me. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/arm-strength?type=player&year=2024&minThrows=50&pos=arm_ss&team= Mookie was gunning down runners from deep RF not all that long ago.
  10. Not sure either is going to improve much with another stint in AAA. Valdez is a lost cause in the field. Hamilton is just a lost cause.
  11. Can't add them to the 40 man this year as it would reduce the amount of CONTROL the team has over them! I don't think anyone would take Paulino or Gambrell in the Rule 5 draft. Probably not Jordan either.
  12. There have been a lot of early season transactions, but nothing really meaningful. I think Yorke is promoted before Mayer simply because of AB's at the level. Penrod could get an early bump to AAA. Castro to AA.
  13. Except that when the ball is in the air, it's not clear that Dansby is going to have to leave his feet for the ball. If he catches the ball, spins and throws Duran is out IMO.
  14. @PatrickDLyons For the first time since 1910 and only the second time in the history of the baseball, the Colorado Rockies have trailed in all 28 games to start a season.
  15. @brendan_camp Blaze Jordan (Portland) and Tyler Miller (Greenville) were named Eastern League and South Atlantic League Players of the Week, respectively.
  16. Very likely IMO as it would speed the game up. Sogard wouldn't be added until this offseason when he'll be Rule 5 eligible and they need to maintain CONTROL over him.
  17. They need someone to back up SS. Westbrook has only 9 IP of pro ball there. Meidroth is not a SS, just 2b/3b.
  18. @LouMerloni Grissom is coming too. They need a guy that can Play SS and hit LHH. Alvarez or Sogard. Pick one
  19. Hamilton and Valdez aren't IFers!
  20. He's just the 2B while they work on the Xander extension. Nothing to worry about. Smart move to get him late in Spring Training even though he suffered through an injury all last year with the Rockies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. What the f***? I can see keeping Dalbec, but Hamilton? Valdez is kinda useless on the roster too. He's a LH DH and they already have Masa. Weird as Hell IMO. I'm not a huge Reyes guy, but I'd keep him over Hamilton. Wonder if they are adding someone not in the org or just leaving room for a WOO transaction?
  22. I didn't remember. I just went back and looked at the replay on the MLB app. You can see the 3b coach communicating with Duran on where to be. Cubbies 3b was well into the OF grass. If the ball is caught, Duran is stuck and no run is scored. If he's tagging up, he scores either way unless it's the LFer that gets to the ball. Kind of a weird play IMO.
  23. Hard to say. I saw both at the same ST game. Fernandez still has great stuff. His issue has always been health. If he beats that problem, maybe there's a good conversation to be had.
  24. Agreed. Braves were expected to be a playoff team and needed to roll the dice on another starter. The Sox were on the outside looking in and probably needed a long term solution in the IF. ATL had the prospect that was blocked. Sox had room under the CBT to deal. Win/win.
