  1. Hell yeah brother. I'm just saying we should all live in the moment, but not count our chickens before they've hatched. Cooper Criswell is just Cooper Criswell after all. I wouldn't expect many 5 IP, 0 ER performances. I'll take what I can get though.
  2. More than Bloom ever could with starters that's for sure. Brad Peacock isn't walking through that door. Zach Godley isn't walking through that door.
  3. He has struggled with bb rate at times and had a 8.0 bb/9 in AAA this year. Something to watch out for.
  4. Anytime a pitcher throws a ball, there's a chance of injury. These guys work out and throw in between starts.
  5. Max effort is causing injuries, but they aren't at an all time high as some suggest. I definitely believe the velo/effort issue is a bigger concern than the pitch clock.
  6. 4.53 xFIP Enjoy his success while it lasts.
  7. I appreciate the scouting for the autograph hounds.
  8. You really don't remember?
  9. Nope. I'll admit to him hitting below 200 with an OBP above 400 at one point and struggling to get the ball out of the IF. It's so early in the season, any good stretch will skew the numbers one way or the other. His approach is still lacking hard contact. I love his batter's eye and patience, but I don't know how well that would translate. I think his defense is much better than what was originally advertised too. Like with Blaze and Kavadas who struggle mightily with velo, when a player gets to MLB the book will get around and that weakness will be exploited over and over and over.
  10. I had a post about it recently, but can't find the twitter thread where I got the info from.
  11. Your eyes are deceiving you. The Sox are having a bad go of it, but across the league, other years have been worse for injuries.
  12. He started most of the games through 4/16, but has only started 2 since. Very weird.
  13. Cora stated that Masa is not hurt. What's the deal there?
  14. Baseball Prospectus' injury database suggests that pitchers with lat tightness miss an average of 50 days.
  15. No, pitching injuries have been higher in recent year without the pitching clock. There is no discernable connection.
  16. Well, that wasn't in this post apparently so I can't verify this. He was hitting below 200 with an OBP at 400 at one point, I think. His lack of power does play into how he'd translate at a higher level. He has a great knowledge of the strike zone, but weak contact will only get you so far. He has 9 hits in his last 5 games and only 1 was an XBH (2B), which was the only ball he put in play longer than 220' over that time.
  17. I don't think many people really wanted Snell. ERod, yes. Gray has been great through his first 3 starts.
  18. @SoxProspects Chase Meidroth went 3-for-4 and scored a run in today's 5-3 Worcester Red Sox game one loss. The 22-year-old infielder is currently slashing .294/.479/.373. The hits weren't falling in early on this season for Meidroth, but that's turned around. 479 OBP! If only he hit the ball with a little more authority.
  19. And if he leaves and is successful, it's not the fault of Sox coaching. Sometimes players just need to turn the page and move on. Dalbec is good enough to be a 100 wRC+ hitter in MLB. He's just in his head.
  20. @SoxProspects A strong outing for Matt Duffy in his start for @SalemRedSox today- 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 43/56 strikes. The 22-year-old righty leaves the gave with a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Duffy was last year's 4th rounder. His previous starts this year weren't amazing. Connelly Early was drafted a round later, is the same age, but is starting his first full season in Greenville rather than Salem.
  21. To me, the last spot was initially between Whitlock and Houck with Crawford as the #4. I think Whitlock showed an improved pitch mix in Spring Training that bumped him over Houck, but we know Whitlock's inability to stay healthy. With Houck's newfound control, he gets the definite edge when factoring in health. Houck has still not pitched 300 career innings in MLB for various reasons (health, effectiveness, pitch mix).
  22. He blew the call.
