  1. My fiscal year ends on 9/30 and it is budget season. I'll leave it for the moon man.
  2. He had an 802 OPS from 5/19/22 - end of season. Aside from that, he's been pretty bad.
  3. Just for reference:
  4. They had a great pitching staff that year. Valdez, Javier and Verlander all had ERA's below 3. He was Javier's personal caddie and Javier was on a great run. He would also come in and be a relief catcher around the 7th inning and their pen included Pressly, Montero, Abreu and Stanek who all had great seasons. HOU was 2nd in reliever fWAR in '22.
  5. I just need some garlic and a wooden stake. I'll take care of all of this.🧛‍♂️
  6. Nobody was asking for Rafaela in a trade in 2019, but I agree with the overall point.
  7. The Astros would have won the WS even if they didn't trade for Vazquez. After Dusty was handed him, he pushed back and didn't want to use him that much. Valdez has been ok, but really is just a platoon DH. Not that much value there. Abreu has been fantastic and should provide loads of value for the next 5 years. He's the reason this trade is a slam dunk. Vaz was on an expiring deal and the Sox weren't going to re-sign him. It's what they should have done with JD, Eovaldi and others.
  8. I think they can still sign guys, but I wouldn't go crazy with one year contract guys. If there is a good long term contract guy that will help you in 26, 27 and 28 it'd be dumb to let that guy go by just because you may not be good enough in 25. That doesn't mean that's the road JH goes down though. 😩
  9. Even if they aren't kicking the can down the road, I don't think the players will be quite ready. All the pieces won't be in place yet IMO. They still need to deal with roadblocks like Story and Yoshida as well and that will take longer than one offseason.
  10. Rafaela got a $10,000 signing bonus. In 2019, he was hitting 754 in the GCL. There's a 95%+ chance DD had no idea who Rafaela was by the time he was fired.
  11. Story has looked hopeless in the batters box for the majority of the time he has been in Boston.
  12. He's ready. He will always chase. He will rarely take a BB. He has the 2nd longest streak w/o a BB (99 PA's) in MLB right now. His defense was the calling card. It's why he's here. His athleticism is why he's able to put the ball in play so often. None of this is a surprise to people who were following him the past few years.
  13. Maybe less time behind the plate will keep his OPS even higher? I know there was always talk of UTIL Wong while he was in MiLB after coming over from the Doyers. If Campbell is producing well enough to stick, I'd let him be the fulltime guy though as he has no split issues and is very athletic.
  14. He was before my time. Tito is the best manager of my lifetime IMO. Morgan Magic was cool, but fleeting. Hobson did so much blow that he ended up being uncool.
  15. Wait until he gets some professional AB's.
  16. Geoff Pontes from BA thinks a good spot for Romero going forward could be 3B. His power seems to be more of a carrying tool than previously expected.
  17. Jimmy Williams was not better than Terry Francona.
  18. From 2016-2020, JBJ was a very valuable player. If you don't believe that, I don't know what to tell you. 99 OPS +, with GG defense. He was paid 30M to earn almost 16bWAR in those years. Any GM would take that in CF.
  19. Tito>Cora>Farrell>Williams>Little>Valentine>Kerrigan
  20. Boy, it would just be great to have an injured, unproductive Mitch Haniger on the 40 man roster!
  21. 2b may be the best option for him going forward. I'm just saying that he's a capable SS if it came to that.
  22. Dansby Swanson has been fine at SS with a below average arm. I wouldn't say it's impossible. Guys at BA aren't saying so anyway.
  23. The Wild Card game in 2021 was cool, but even then I think the rivalry died off during the weird 2012-2015 years. Both teams fell off at points. When the teams got hot again it was with all new players and the animosity just wasn't there. It's played out IMO.
