    It would take a big offensive reversal for Story to have a big year. It COULD happen. Sox would just have to trade him first.

    There's nothing to live down. He was there biggest trade chip not named Casas or Bello. Sox still need a top of the rotation starter to be a real team.

    His FIP with the BoSox has been 3.69. He's been better than what he was with the ChiSox. Maybe another team takes a chance? Easier to pick up the claim this time since the Royals are still paying him 5M, which is how he cleared in the first place.

    The MLB trade deadline is also one of the greatest days in sports. Just talking about trades has always been a part of the game. Not sure why some people get upset over it. Yes, I was right that they should have had a fire sale in 2022. Get over it. Yes, I was right that they should have traded whatever expiring deals they could in 2023. Get over it. Yes, I was right to say they needed to wait to see what this team looked like before they made any decisions. Get over it. Sheesh. Some people just need to let things go already...

    Goldschmidt is on a team that currently has a Wild Card spot. Mets have a few teams ahead of them to even get there.

    Yeah, seems like an unlikely scenario to me too. What about another 1B/DH RHB that is going to be a FA at year's end: Mark Canha. He should be cheaper and is on a team that is well out of it. That seems like a target that should be more reasonable? 921 OPS vs LHP

    Instead of a 20th ranked prospect, you could get a 17th? IDK. For a lot of these guys, Sox have more of a reason to KEEP them than to trade them.

    The top 10 is probably untouchable to Breslow except for Sandlin. Fitts is needed for next season so he's not going elsewhere. They could probably move any prospect from 11 on though I doubt they move very young starters like Portes. I wouldn't be that surprised if they moved a guy like Elmer Rodriguez as he's going to Rule 5 eligible after next season and is repeating Salem again for the second time.

    Not sure his value is very high. Would the Sox be happy with a reliever or a mediocre prospect?

    They were set to trade Betts during the 2019 season, but the Sox went on a mini streak and Dombrowski decided to keep him around.
