  1. I think they'll continue to discuss an extension this offseason with Casas. We'll see if they get very far. Nothing else to say about Devers? Must not be a very interesting player! Rafaela will not learn to take an extra pitch or two anytime soon. He is what he is. He'll peak at 750 OPS IMO. We saw the good and the bad with him this year. He'll be better if just left in CF. Alcantara is a good flier for potential ace. Crochet is probably too expensive still IMO. I'd be willing to move Mayer in a Crochet deal. Would Chicago rather Duran (you mentioned his potential trade availability)?
  2. I don't know if the grievance process will help him. May not help Rowdy Tellez and any potential issue there either against the Pirates.
  3. Well I guess he turns down the 22.5 then! Not enough money!!!
  4. With Gio, we all played therapist and assumed his issues were personal related due to his divorce and not health related. Maybe it was both?
  5. 26 man players get a pay bump.
  6. LOfrickingL
  7. Just because it's fast, doesn't mean it isn't hittable. Joe Kelly throws hard, punches hard and gets hit hard in many years (2015-2019, 2024).
  8. 🤷‍♀️
  9. Braves didn't know s***. They just had some financial ability to absorb Sale's contract and knew his upside could push them over the top into the upper echelon of teams considering their injury issues with starters. If it didn't work out, it wasn't going to tank them as they have lots of depth starters and could still be relatively competitive. Sale was a lottery ticket and it worked out this year.
  10. This was Bloom's strategy. Breslow operates under a completely different strategy as you've noted above. Maybe see what he moves forward with before flipping your lid. I highly doubt he trades for deGrom. I think he wants to acquire a young controllable starter who they can develop into an ace, someone a tier above Priester.
  11. Rafaela and Abreu not included in BA's All Rookie team:
  12. Nobody is making that case. It's just cheaper to acquire deGrom than a guy with no injury history. Also, deGrom is probably much more likely to have a bounce back season than Kluber, Richards, Paxton, Wacha or Hill IMO.
  13. Sale hadn't had a 24 type season in a long time either (since 2018) and I think that was the original point. There's no indicators that deGrom is more likely to be better next season, but he looked good at the end of this year and had surgery to fix the problem he was struggling with. If the Sox need an ace, deGrom is a guy with ace upside. If the Sox relied on the oft injured Sale for 24, I'm sure you could use all these arguments to say it was a bad idea, but it would have worked out. There's a chance that it could work out with deGrom and there aren't many guys in MLB with true ace upside.
  14. Maybe an error or just something they have to do per the CBA. All SoxProspects shows is: 10/1/24 Worcester Reese McGuire and Yohan Ramirez elected free agency
  15. That was me throwing around my mod weight for the first time. 😤 You're on a short leash buster! If you post about your Caesar Puello body pillow, you're outta here!
  16. Maye once he has a different uniform on, he'll actually it better...
  17. His fWAR this year shows the contract was worth it so far. Just needs more 50/50 seasons as a DH.
  18. If he's mad about the Mets mailing in the last game, they would have mailed in Game 162 if it was played the following day instead of a double header. If they wanted to be in the playoffs, win one more game. Agree. The owner seems like a dipshit. Per a googling, he's a software/banking billionaire who collected baseball cards growing up and now owns the most expensive baseball card in the world and the grading company that grades the most cards. He probably gets along real well with John Henry and is the worst.
  19. I'd make some sort of deal for Gausman, but have no interest in Berrios.
  20. You included 2020, how kind of you! He was still a 4.5 bWAR pitcher in 2021 with 92 IP. Even with the COVID shortened 2020, deGrom pitched 104 more innings than Sale from 2020-2023. An argument could have been made that he should have had his second TJS after getting injured in 2021, but he tried rehabbing and making it until the end of 2022 so that he could reach FA. He got surgery after signing his deal. Also, 4 years ago was 2021 when he pitched 92 IP an amount NOT under 68 IP. If you were trying to say 4 of the last 5 then fine, but I'd argue that 68.1 IP is not UNDER 68 IP either.
  21. Don't be gross.
  22. Just seems like the Sox are trying to find the next young ace right before he's developed into one rather than get a Jordan Montgomery type.
  23. If you're the Red Sox, how much $ would you pay Monty to pitch next season? He was really bad this year.
  24. I think he's making a lot of noise in hopes that Jordan is uncomfortable with taking the player option for next season. If I'm Jordan, I'm taking that 25M though. As a pitcher, you never know when the last pitch you throw will be. He had such a rough year, I don't expect a bigger contract waiting for him in FA.
