As I've said, Red Sox fans can be idiots.
Eovaldi 2018 Regular Season with Red Sox:
12 G, 54 IP, 3.33 ERA, 2.88 FIP
Postseason
6 G, 22 IP, 1.61 ERA, 2.71 FIP
He was very good the second he put the jersey on.
I saw Rikishi and his family walk into LA Food Show back when I lived out there. This was before his kids signed with WWE and arguably became more famous.
Yes, I was young. That's why I most certainly rely on other sources. When those other sources tell me he wasn't a complete dog in the field, I'm going to assume he wasn't a net negative the way you did. 🤷♀️
This wasn't a move based on being cheap. It was to acquire a pitcher with the highest ceiling who was realistically available. Crochet has the potential be better than any other pitcher moved this offseason. It also may be a trade that just blows up in their face.
Realistically, I have no clue what their plan is. Buehler, acquire a catcher and more relievers and I'm fine with it. I'm ok if they don't fix the handedness of the hitters.
He's just not great and the Sox could get better at that position without having to spend a lot of money. To me, I'd value a defensive first guy that could help the pitching staff rather than an offensive first guy like Wong.
Do you have a better defensive source than Baseball Reference? Maybe your EYE TEST, notin? Please remind me what his defense looked like early on in 1985. Were you in elementary school at that time?
Wow, one trade worked out in favor of the Sox. Therefore, Red Sox prospects are routinely overhyped.
Swihart, Chavis and Dalbec were not overhyped as prospects. Of those three, the only one that had any trade value at any moment in time was Swihart. C'mon man!
Michael Chavis was overhyped? By who? Dalbec? Laughable...
Top pitchers left per projected fWAR:
Burnes - 30 seems very unlikely per reports, but should be priority
Flaherty - 29 could have signed him last offseason, but didn't
Pivetta - 32 pass for what it would take to sign him
Scherzer - 40 no
Kershaw - 37 no
Manaea - 33 are you kidding me
Gibson - 37 no
Lynn - 38 no
Morton - 41 no
Heaney - 34 yuck
Verlander - 42 no
Buehler - 30 coming off TJS and had 10 good innings in the playoffs, wow
Chat, what do we think?
Casas, Mayer, Abreu and Sandlin for Jared Jones?
Why would we trade all that for a short, two pitch guy, without great command who couldn't get through last season without an injury? You're betting on him turning into an ace for that haul. There's a very good chance he doesn't get there.
