  1. Yankees rotation (not in order): Cole Fried Stroman Gil Rodon They already have a lot of money tied up in that rotation. I don't see them going for Burnes. They'll wish they had once Fried gets his next TJS.
  2. Does he care about cash payout or CBT? Chris Martin's deal was 2/13.5. Even if Whitlock is in the pen, I don't think the money is outrageous at this point. Don't worry though, one of these Sox extensions will eventually work in their favor!
  3. I'm only drooling on myself half the time when I'm posting.
  4. I think Buehler and Montgomery have a similar injury history: Tommy John Surgery. To me, they aren't distinct enough to really say "oh that guy is a more sure bet." I think they are about as reliable going forward (my personal opinion) and that Buehler has a high ceiling over the short term and would be cheaper. Either guy could tweak something and be done in ST. I wouldn't be surprised. There was a lot of talk last offseason about Monty only having a certain amount of innings on his arm post surgery before the second one would come. You disagree. That's fine. I'm not minimizing Buehler's risk, but stating that Monty has a higher risk than you believe.
  5. The longer Burnes is out there, the fewer the radars there are. Yanks are out. Dodgers are probably out. Mets are looking at midtier guys. The most likely spots as of right now are Giants, Sox and Jays. I think he's a plausible option. It just takes FO deciding to make the move.
  6. Murphy really struggled last season. He's got a good glove and that skill should stick with him for the next 4 years. I'm not against the move. Just depends on what they are giving up. https://www.batterypower.com/2024/12/15/24315487/2024-atlanta-braves-season-in-review-sean-murphy This article posits that Murphy could bounce back this season, but that the Braves are going to rely on him for a lot of playing time in 2025. Not so sure they are likely to trade him.
  7. Devers is a better baserunner than Bregman. Some people may not want to hear this.
  8. Story is a decent runner. The hit they take going from Story fulltime to DHam part time won't be very dramatic. I think DHam will still get a lot of playing time.
  9. Signing Bregman for 2b makes little sense to me. If they are signing him to have him take over at 3b it makes much more sense.
  10. He had TJS twice. Monty had TJS. He may get it a second time as well. Don't act like Monty's never missed time.
  11. I didn't remember the first TJS. I think one year may be ok with him. I would not sign him for multiple. No way.
  12. Montgomery had his first TJS in 2018. Maybe his arm is at the end of its life (considering how poorly he pitched last season) and needs a second TJS?
  13. Is Buehler really oft injured or is it just one injury (TJS)?
  14. Helps when the Rays are actually. paying them for once.
  15. I really don't think they are going to pull the trigger on enough moves to really get the fanbase back this offseason. It's going to take a few offseasons of them being committed and the Sox making the playoffs more often than not.
  16. I'm not sold that Buehler is back. I'm not sold that Montgomery would actually be better than Buehler though. Monty was garbo last season. For one season, give me Buehler. If it's not working out, you can put him in the pen. Montgomery in the pen offers you zilch.
  17. What is going on in Tampa is pretty laughable. I'd feel bad for the Rays fans, but they were going to build the new stadium right next to the old one and still not draw anybody. Dave Stewart needs to buy them ASAP.
  18. I think we have a lot of 3/4/5 types in the org. We don't have guys to slot in at the top.
  19. Martin and Jansen are still available too. I'd rather they come back than Pivetta.
  20. It was his age 37 season. He pitched 164 innings the year before that. That's more than he pitched the previous 3 years combined. Arms have a limited amount of bullets in them. Corey snuck in an additional 250 productive innings after surgery and then was toast. His 2022 season was only worth 0.8 bWAR. If you look at his 2022 Statcast, his "stuff" looked nothing like what it was prior to surgery in 2018. He no longer had a valuable fastball or breaking ball. His whiff and k rates fell off a cliff. 19th percentile xBA. 26th percentile xSLG. He was on his way out due to the surgery and age.
  21. Pivetta is reliable until he's no longer reliable. We saw that with Giolito. Pivetta's ceiling is a 3 at his best? He pitches more often like a decent 4 and a 5 for a good rotation. Why spend large on that?
  22. I have clearly forgotten the ballad of Rusney Castillo.
  23. Hugh, it's on you to show your work for this.
