  1. It's one of the few reasons his k rate is so low (56% swing first pitch vs 31% MLB average). He is terrible when behind in the count, but good when even or ahead in the count. I don't mind him swinging at the first pitch if the ball is a strike. I'd rather that than watching a meatball go right by him and then whiffing on two pitches out of the zone like we've seen a bunch from him.
  2. What kind of point is that? Shouldn't the point be what you're doing right now? Ceddanne had a very low k rate to start the year and is now just reverting (10% k rate first 11 games, 22% since then).
  3. Rafaela/Duran CF Anthony LF Campbell 1B Mayer 3B Abreu RF
  4. Couldn't pull a 4 seamer from a RHP if his life depended on it.
  5. It's not on the approved complaints list! 🧐
  6. My thoughts on this game: 1. Crochet needs to be a stopper, letting your first pitch go into the stands is BRUTAL 2. The offense loves weak fly balls the least exciting play in baseball 3. I can't stand all the called third strikes 4. The home plate ump was annoying with missed calls and holding the game up to fill out his book (when was the last time a homeplate ump took time out of the game to fill out pinch hitters, most umps get that done seamlessly)
  7. If they were trading Duran for prospects, other teams would be open to it 100%, similar to how they traded Quinn Priester. Most other teams weren't going to trade their MLB caliber pitchers, but the BoSox were for the right price. Rafaela's "best value" may be as CFer, but maybe the best thing for the team is just straight platooning Duran/Rafaela in CF, adding Anthony as LF, moving Campbell to 1B and playing Rafaela at 2B/SS as needed.
  8. 22.5% since May 1. He's going to be over 20% in the next week or so since he's already at 19.6%,
  9. Campbell is already working on 1B. Why move Anthony there? It makes no sense. Campbell has been really rough at 2B and there are questions on if he can stay in the IF. Maybe 1B works out for him?
  10. The ACTIVE roster includes: Dobbins (ok, but can't go 6 innings which is a problem because of the next two) Bello (yuck) Giolito (c'mon) Connor Wong (if DFA'd might pass waivers) Sogard Toro Hamilton (2b only, 44 wRC+) Campbell mired in a huge slump
  11. I didn't say it was an improvement to anything but the k rate. 🫠
  12. Guerrero is already back in WOO (swapped out with Kelly). Bello starts on Wed.
  13. Mayer and Campbell are talented, but the results aren't going to really be there right away. It takes a breaking in period for young guys. Xander 2014. Devers 2018. They might be good every day players, but they probably aren't going to be the All Star, near All Star guys we're envisioning. I'd say the same for Roman if he's called up. These guys might have a hot start and then a period of cooling off once the book gets around on them like we're seeing with Campbell right now. I'd rather them go through it this year and get it over with though.
  14. Narvaez was the #3 hitter yesterday. Hitters 4-9 included two rookies, Story (668 Red Sox OPS), Hamilton (648 career OPS) and Toro (644 OPS).
  15. Maybe he passes through waivers and the Sox can keep him in the system?
