  1. Number of times he pitched in back to back games: 1. Number of times he pitched twice in three days: 13. He had a lot of rest for a guy with 46 appearances. 15 appearances 1 inning or less. 41 appearances 2 innings or less. Only 5 times did he pitch over 2 innings. He was 12th in reliever innings that year.
  2. Love it. A lot of the newer parks tried to create their own quirks and it just comes off as phony. There is just something inherently authentic about Fenway and all the weirdness that can happen. One of my favorite moments will be late era Bill Buckner hitting an inside the park HR to RF. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VV8eJszQVo Us real freaks want to know what happens in this triangle though.
  3. Should have been traded.
  4. And the trade would be very expensive. I don't think they could extend him either. Pass.
  5. Wong isn't much more than a 100 game guy. They needs an upgrade over these types IMO.
  6. Breslow, rightly, doesn't want him for six years.
  7. Bello isn't going to the pen, but they should consider trading him. Maybe they could get a nice Catcher for him.
  8. He didn't even stay healthy in 2021 and they completely babied him that year.
  9. 2021: two 10 day IL stints (pectoral) 2022: two 15 day IL stints with rehab in AAA (hip) 2023: 15 day IL 3X with rehab assignments (hip surgery in offseason, elbow inflamation) 2024: 15 day IL 3X, 60 day IL, out for season (oblique, UCL, surgery) The two seasons they tried to make him a starter, his body just cratered. It couldn't hold up. After throwing 120 innings in 2018, his body gave out in 2019. He'll never throw 100+ innings again. We gave it one more chance last season and he couldn't last a month.
  10. I'm not sure where Fulmer stands, but stretching him out may only put him into the Chase Anderson role IMO. BOS has six starters right now. WOO has seven starters if you include Fulmer and Drohan. It's hard to pick and choose between Fitts, Dobbins and Priester since they are still in development and Dobbins currently has considerable helium and a new pitch. I think I'd give any of them a shot in BOS before Fulmer. Criswell is probably the first man up after whoever of Crawford/Bello gets put into the pen. Not going to get hot and bothered over a 5 game sample from Criswell in AAA though.
  11. With Whitlock's ongoing health issues, there's no way I'd put him back in the rotation. His "stuff" is rotation material and it tantalizes you into putting him into the rotation. His body just doesn't allow it.
  12. In 2023, Bello had the higher HR/9 than Crawford.
  13. Would be very surprised if they acquired a closer this offseason. I think they may get some more arms, but the closer is probably already on the staff.
  14. I think eating 1/3 of a contract is fine as long as it's not greatly hindering the team's ability to sign future players and/or they won a WS in large part because of the contract.
  15. He hit 114 IP by the ASB and then proceeded to have that horrible 3 game stretch where he gave up 12 HR's. I'm not sold on him being better than Bello, but I think last season showed him that there's a lot he has to do to stay consistent for a full season (mental and physical conditioning). It's more likely they stick Bello in the rotation due to his extension and Crawford's history in the pen. I just wouldn't rule out Crawford looking better in ST the way he did in 2024 and some posters questioning this prior to Opening Day.
  16. So many pitchers are included in the sample that there's enough noise to find pitchers with decreases innings, increased innings, increased velo/stuff, decreased velo/stuff. I don't think there is a one size fits all rehab or return from TJS.
  17. It's kind of all over the place when you go pitcher to pitcher. Some guys are down in innings and some guys are up. It all depends on where they are in their rehab most likely. If Gio felt like he could have pitched in September, maybe he's in line for more innings this year?
  18. He had the internal brace procedure and not full TJS so we'll see.
  19. He's a guy who averaged 175 per year prior to surgery. I think him falling further than 150 if he starts on Opening Day would be a huge surprise.
  20. They are typically meaningless as they are rarely taken.
  21. I wonder at what point they increase that $ per win.
