  1. Damn… The Dollop did a great podcast series on him if anyone wants some more background than they already know.
  2. I'd have him in between Paez and Mullins.
  3. Rumor is he's holding out for a trade to LAD.
  4. Yeah, they were way too high on Castro. He was a guy that never really put it together on the field. At least Bleis has the five tools you can dream on to be overrated. Reyes is intriguing, but I want to see a guy play stateside before I really push them too high. Hard to judge him on 17 innings against a lot of guys who will never make it over here. I think he's top 20, but wouldn't strap a rocket to him yet.
  5. What's the hindsight picks? The only adjustments I made was to not make any future moves for RF (JBJ, Renfroe) where Betts would be playing.
  6. I'll tell you after the player turns it around! No, I've been high on Early since he was drafted. He's now at 14th so that's fine with me. They went waaaay too low on Romero due to injury and had to bump him back up, but he looks ok now. Valera is where Perales was in his development a few years ago. They are a little light on him IMO. He'll get pushed up this season. Paez doesn't miss any bats and had a 1.39 HR/9 in GRE (higher than his walk rate). He's about right. I want him to be better, but his velo isn't there. Narvaez initiated this conversation so I believe they are light on him. Maybe they just don't value a backup catcher? He was projected to have the same fWAR as Connor Wong in 2025. Interesting to me that they have Conrad Cason 16th and Brandon Neely 32nd. Over the short term, Neely is going to perform really well and I think Cason may take a while to develop.
  7. I don't need to handpick the best signings. Just keep Betts and dump half of Price. Don't re-sign Porcello. Don't re-sign Kimbrel. 2020 becomes a wash, but they can dump players to get under the cap once Sale and ERod go down. Make the same moves in 2021 except you don't need to sign Renfroe. Make the same moves in 2022 except they don't need to trade for JBJ. Both those years get better with Mookie.
  8. Nate had 19, COVID, 21, 22 Pivetta had 21, 22, 23, 24 C'mon man!
  9. I don't think the juggling was THAT serious. They just put saving $ at the forefront for several years. But good sir, they went over the CBT in '22 by 50 cents! Don't care.
  10. Yeah, he had a head start.
  11. Because when they get a trade wrong, it's never because of their model! It's always because of something else! FTA: But that means sometimes there’s a lag between what the numbers are and what they should be, had they been updated sooner. A young prospect with helium may be traded in December, let’s say, and the trade might look a little off because our numbers are still reflecting the previous update on a prospect (or two) that was involved in it. But then, the new numbers might come out in January, and at that point the trade looks a lot closer. In other words, the gap was caused by a time lag, not an issue with our model. Enjoy playing with their toy. Just don't give it more credence than Old Red yammering at the dive bar down the street.
  12. I think Mookie would have looked really good on this team in 2021!
  13. It's not about keeping the entire team intact, it's about keeping your franchise player around for the remainder of his career. If you have to move on from other guys because of that, fine.
  14. With Scott, it shows that they don't believe in long contracts for relievers. If Scott was going to sign for 3 years, he'd be here by now IMO.
  15. How'd they go about fixing the confusion? They brought in Theo Epstein to add yet another voice to the cacophony! Grape job everyone!
  16. You didn't answer my question. The transparency on their acceptance rate is awful.
  17. Why is Kimbrel being paid 14M? He wasn't with the Sox. Also unsure why you are setting that particular budget. If they go over again, it's not the end of the world. Also Also I suggest trading half of Price's contract.
  18. I'd rather they go the Bregman 3B route if I'm being honest. It becomes a little bit of a mess, but I'd keep Masa and trade Casas in a package for another starter.
  19. Pivetta who was in and out of the rotation the past few years was replaced by Crochet. Jansen and Martin who were replaced by Hendriks, Chapman and probably others including internal options like Whitlock. Tyler O'Neill who is such a miss by ownership because the Sox never replaced oney year RHB OF phenoms like Hunter Renfroe's RBI production or Adam Duvall's April production with any FA since they left. It's just impossible to find a RHB on a one year deal and have them perform cheaply in Boston! Also, the number one prospect in baseball: Roman Anthony.
  20. Pedroia 15M (through '21) Pablo 19M Nunez 5M Pearce 6M Holt 4M They were getting 35M in savings just from the 4 guys above leaving after '19. Pedroia was a sunk cost. Even Price was somewhat of a sunk cost. You won a WS with him and then you eat the end of the contract. That's why you sign those guys. Could they have traded Price and half his deal for a low A pitcher on his own? Probably. They CHOSE to not re-sign Mookie and blow it up.
  21. Yeah, seems that's what has been their approach in recent years. Unfortunately, they aren't properly valuing the market and are being left behind in FA.
  22. Last I heard, the Red Sox haven't even given him a number yet.
  23. I'm not saying the Sox are faking interest, just that Teoscar is MORE interested in the Dodgers and wants to stay there. He's going to try to squeeze more money out of them by bringing more bidders into the process.
