  1. Henry has been putting all his eggs in the Big Three basked even before Campbell was invited to the party. I think it has been a mistake as not all prospects work out and even the best ones aren't always perfect right out of the box. Why put all that pressure on young guys to perform without surrounding them with the right talent? The great thing about adding these young studs is that they are CHEAP and can be surrounded with expensive guys in the short term before their contracts get big.
  2. But you guys want some treats now!
  3. Previously on Bregman hits a dinger: ERod, Doug Fister, Price, Phillips Valdez, Bello.
  4. If Grissom gets run at SS, I'm asking for a refund on the season even if they are punting.
  5. He was OPSing 714 on 8/3 and then hit 896 the rest of the way. Not sure what was going on with him last year, but I don't believe he was working his way back from an injury. He's... Just... Getting... Old... Expecting OPS above 800 for him going forward would be foolish even with half of his games at Fenway IMO. HOU was already tailor made for his swing. It's not like he's going to see a magical bounce from a shorter porch.
  6. If Bregman was on the Sox in prior years: 2024: 6th in OPS 2023: 5th in OPS 2022: 3rd in OPS 2021: 7th in OPS (tied with Verdugo) 2020: 6th in OPS (tied with Vazquez) 2019: 1st in OPS (buzzer year) 2018: 3rd in OPS 2017: 1st in OPS (trash can year)
  7. Just found a "significant move" the Sox could make.
  8. He was basically David Hamilton at SS 6 years ago. Does that mean he'd necessarily be a good 2B now? I'm not so sure. I don't know why the Sox are so interested in putting players at positions where they don't really belong.
  9. Signing one more impact arm could go a long way.
  10. The window was open until your cliff. The window hasn't been opened again and will remain shut until further notice. Saying it should be now is basically meaningless. It's just a fans impatience.
  11. He'd be ok at 2B. He hasn't really played much MIF in the past few years and should be a corner IFer as he ages most likely. His best fit is 3B. Moving him to 2B just clogs up the roster for Mayer and Campbell, guys who will be better than Bregman in a few years. I personally don't believe they need to add a RHB due to Story coming back and Campbell getting promoted. Casas and Devers don't have platoon issues. Anthony doesn't seem to have platoon issues in MiLB, which is generally indicative of future success.
  12. I would have assumed that a former pitcher like Breslow would be more likely to focus on Catcher, but that hasn't been the case. He just collects depth third catcher types.
  13. That's why I wouldn't want him playing 2B. I'm not entirely sure what his market is. I'd be happy with a 3 year deal, but he'll want 5-6 I'm guessing.
  14. Corbin Burnes, Blake Snell or Max Fried was a significant move for the rotation. Aside from Soto, signing Walker, Adames or Bregman would be significant. I think signing Bregman for 3b would be significant, but that seems to be off the table or it would have been done by now. Trading for Arenado is NOT significant and likely a bad idea. Trading for one of the Mariners starters would be significant.
  15. They didn't miss the playoffs in '19, '20, '22, '23 or '24 because of his defense.
  16. I think that's where the Sox are at unless some generational talent like Soto is available.
  17. If the window was now, there'd be another significant move aside from Crochet. There hasn't been and there isn't a guy left on the FA market that is a NOW move. More trades would only hurt the near future of the team for a deeply flawed team.
  18. MOST fans can't name 10 current players. I'm sure they will ultimately not care that it takes one more year to get there.
  19. I believe that's their plan. Will it work out???
  20. I agree. I think they get an extension for Crochet done and that the Sox aren't a "complete package" until 2026. I know people don't want to hear that.
  21. I think they'll be better than 2024, but they haven't really invested in the bullpen in a meaningful way. I think the ceiling is limited until guys like Campbell, Anthony and Mayer actually get their feet wet and learn how to be MLBers. They aren't going to all be mashing right out of the box.
  22. I'd rather just keep Devers at 3B until they have a better option going forward. I think Devers is the 3B until Casas' ARB years run out or is traded. I think adding a stronger 2b and SS combo will help the IF immensely.
  23. It seems obvious to me that Sam is out there playing a used car salesman role and is trying to get the Red Sox over to the public regardless of what they'll actually do. Is he stupid? No, there's just a disconnect between when he sees himself as in being a caretaker of the Red Sox and what the normal Sox fans want out of the Sox. His wants and needs are different than those of us on here. If the Sox miss the playoffs again, I don't think it impacts Sam the way it impacts us. Selling the team to the public is not necessarily the CBO's job and I don't think we've had a guy in that role try to really do that. The CBO is clearly working under fiscal constraints that they really don't comment on and are trying to build an org the way they see fit. Bloom leaned on farm development and kind of ignored the MLB team. Breslow focused a little bit more on the MLB team, but still hasn't been able to push them over the top. The real rot of the organization is at the tippy top and largely the reason they weren't a hot destination for potential CBO's to interview at.
