  1. Would make sense because Duran and Abreu played a s*** ton of games last season. If Rafaela doesn't have to cover SS, there is enough flexibility for Cora to move guys around out there. He couldn't last year as he didn't have the bodies.
  2. And you assume that you know everything the Sox will do. We shall see.
  3. I'd throw Masa in LF before putting Romy out there again just to keep Masa happy.
  4. Mookie hit the ground running and never stopped. Devers and Xander struggled in their first full seasons. JBJ never got to the offensive heights that were projected (Griffey Sr comp). Beni started off strong and then lost it. Hard to say what this group will do.
  5. He's going to get LESS than Flaherty? YUCK! 2. Will Pivetta’s market begin to move? Right-hander Nick Pivetta declined a qualifying offer from the Red Sox at the outset of the offseason, but since then there’s been little to say about his market. The Blue Jays were connected to him earlier this offseason, and there’s been some reporting that’s suggested the Padres could have interest if they end up trading Dylan Cease and creating additional budget space. The soon-to-be 32-year-old has hardly been a part of the offseason rumor mill despite being one of the best pitchers remaining on the market since the rush of starting pitching signings during the Winter Meetings. Now that Flaherty has signed and Pivetta is the highest-ranked free agent starter still available on MLBTR’s Top 50 MLB Free Agents list, could his market begin to show signs of life?
  6. Right. I have them at 85 wins or so. Without Raffy, or with a reduced Raffy, this is a below 500 team.
  7. They were at or below 500 the previous 3 years because of the surrounding cast, not because of Raffy. They should be better than 500 this year. If Raffy is hurt, they won't be.
  8. He already does it though. He moves the players all over the field. Duran 105 G CF, 83 LF Refsnyder 46 LF, 37 RF Rafaela 87 CF, 82 SS, 10 2B, 4 3B, 1 RF
  9. With Campbell and Mayer closer to MLB ready, I don't think Rafaela will be forced to play near fulltime SS again unless he's earned it for some weird reason. They are better equipped to deal with an injury in the OF or MIF this year IMO. A Catching or 1B injury would be rough.
  10. We've pushed a CFer to RF before and it worked out ok (2013, 2016).
  11. Anthony and Campbell extensions make sense. However, if they want PPI they can't give them an extension before they reach MLB. The extension has to happen after their first MLB game. If they don't care about the PPI, they can just extend them now. I'm not sure what there appetite is for gaming the system in that manner. I think they need to get the Crochet extension done first no matter what.
  12. Yeah, I'm surprised it hasn't gone up before.
  13. They'll have a similar record to previous years, but with their best player on the sidelines. If their best player is playing, they'll be better than before since the players around him are better than the past few years. Baseball isn't a one man sport like basketball. In ARod's 3 years in TEX, the Rangers never won more than 73 games while ARod had 8+ bWAR seasons each year with 156 HR, 395 RBI, 1011 OPS and played 161+ games each year.
  14. Who is playing RF and CF in this scenario? If it's Rafaela and Duran, I'd push Rafaela to RF and Duran to CF.
  15. We made it...
  16. Crawford is controlled through '28, why extend him? You could make a case to extend Houck, but he's already in his 29 season and controlled for 3 years. No chance to they extend Slaten they way they did with Whitlock. Relief arms are too fungible and Slaten only has a partial year of success at the moment. Imagine if they extended Josh Taylor...
  17. If Devers is out, it won't matter if Bregman is already on the team. The Sox will be cooked if Devers misses any significant time or is still struggling with his shoulder.
  18. Less than 10%
  19. I mean, there's no reason to add Eaton until he actually needs to be up with the Sox. He spent all of last season in AAA. Why would they add Sikes who only has 3 games above AA? It would be weird to 60 man a bunch of pitchers and replace them with hitters anyway. Fulmer seems more likely. Maybe Isaiah Campbell too.
  20. A LHP has never struck him out since he became a pro.
  21. It's an MiLB deal at 1.5M. It's not an astounding amount of $ to keep in WOO. They said they want to stretch him out. If so, he may be in WOO for a little bit.
