  1. Also have no idea what his stuff looks like. His last outing in 2024 included a 91.6 mph 4 seamer as his fastest pitch. The previous outing was 93.6 mph about a week earlier. He touched 94.5 two days prior to that and 95.6 earlier in the month. His velo just dropped from his initial appearances. This is a guy who AVERAGED 95.5 in '23 and 97+ in '22 and '21 prior to health issues. If he can't sustain 95+, he's no longer valuable.
  2. I don't want Chapman anywhere near the closer's spot. Maybe a save here or there, but if Hendriks fails I'm going to Slaten.
  3. I think they need more than 75% of things to break right to get to 90 and I'm expecting this team to catch a few breaks this year.
  4. Oh, I already said that this year was a punt until 2026 when they'd have Anthony and Campbell for 100% of the time plus other additions. This seems like a trial balloon year. See what sticks.
  5. The Sox were in a big tailspin in those two years. I think the Sox are in a different trajectory right now. Maybe the Jays are catching up and trying to do one more year to win back Vlad? IDK. I think a lot of the Sox guys beat out their projections. That's just me looking at individual projections and seeing them skew awkwardly towards Duran's first callup or expecting Abreu to be a WORSE defender somehow. Do I think the Sox will be better than middling? Probably not, but I think they'll be a little better than last year.
  6. No, just more data. Don't need scouts anymore! 🤢
  7. Jays tend to have better offseasons than the Sox and do nothing with it. I'm not worried about them. Sox have definitely made their bed though.
  8. They are "aiming at 90 wins." Aren't they doing that every year? It's not a guarantee. Also, the "even if it means" is really used car salesman speak. I don't take too much from that dumb quote. It doesn't outright say they are going over the CBT. They would have for Soto or maybe for Fried/Burnes if the contracts were in their market valuation.
  9. Grichuk vs LHP '24 914 '23 995 '22 926 That's much more consistent than O'Neill. Use him like a Refsnyder that has a better glove. He's a better glove than O'Neill at this point too. I'm not trying to hype this guy up because the Sox won't sign him either.
  10. C'mon man... I still think this team is an 85 win ceiling and am not high on it. Max wasn't pitching in this rotation. Dude's arm is almost cooked. He lost velo last year and it's only going to trend downward.
  11. Just because I don't think O'Neill is worth a big contract? I've also said all along that RHB isn't my biggest priority. What did Sam say that fits this narrative?
  12. For sure, but that's different than solely focusing on pitching and not hitting. They've been keeping payroll down and still signed guys like Story and Masa in previous years. They haven't had an MLB FA hitter signing since Adam Duvall. They are just spending the little money they have differently than before. I don't think a Grichuk deal puts them over their budget though.
  13. Their farm is hitter heavy and ranked #2, so maybe they think the current focus should be on pitching and that hitting will work itself out internally?
  14. Yeah, I can totally blame the agent. Pivetta is probably not worth the loss of a QO. His agent seemed to screw this one up.
  15. He's worse than Penrod, Weissert and Campbell since he doesn't have any options remaining.
  16. I think any 1 year deal would be fine for Grichuk up to about 8M. I don't think he's going to take less than 6 since he turned a 6M mutual option down this offseason. Expecting a 3M is silly season.
  17. You may be the first mod to get a temp ban with that kind of language.
  18. O'Neill's OPS vs LHP didn't break 800 in '22 or '23. He's not a sure thing.
  19. Age is the main reason he's bounced from team to team to team in the past several years. He can still get batters out... for now.
  20. His Statcast page looks pretty good for '24. He's the only guy that is still available that looks like a definitely upgrade for the pen.
  21. Pivetta could be a great closer IMO. Not sure he wants to go that direction though. His agent really screwed him over IMO.
  22. Jansen would be fine, but I don't think Cora or the team wants him back.
