  1. I think it kind of simplifies it. Unless it's below market value, he's not getting an extension. You can trust that he's going to be a guy that will be ready to play for you down the stretch in any given season. I'd offer him the 8/50 they gave Rafaela and not move off that number.
  2. Horner is the man simply for being on the DL and changing from street clothes into a uniform when the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_Braves–Padres_bean_brawl was going down just so he could fight somebody.
  3. If Mayer produces like Horner for his first 6 years, I'm calling it a slam dunk win and they shouldn't trade him. Just let him go to FA and have him become someone else's problem. Keep Story at SS and make sure there is a decent backup at 2b (Romero/Arias/other).
  4. They are clearly deeply suspicious of Devers and his friendship with in division rival Xander Bogaerts and that has closed them off to performing well! Devers also probably cuts in line at catering and sings poorly in the shower! It just makes too much dang sense when you think about it, even if it hasn't been reported on...
  5. Last time Buehler pitched against the O's, O'Hearn went 3-3. That probably won't happen for O'Hearn tonight at Fenway! Maybe Buehler will have a better shot this go around?
  6. He's a super two guy like Duran. Duran won't be a FA until he turns 32.
  7. Better than Duran showed in his first taste of the bigs.
  8. 7 of the top 10 Giants leaders in PA since the trade have a wRC+ below 100. Prior to the trade, it was 4 of 10. For example: Heliot Ramos pre-trade: 133 wRC+ Heliot Ramos post-trade: 87 wRC+ Matt Chapman pre-trade: 133 wRC+ Matt Chapman post-trade: 87 wRC+ Mike Yastrzemski pre-trade: 108 wRC+ Mike Yastrzemski post-trade: 72 wRC+ Maybe Devers should be playing 3b for the Giants instead of Matt Chapman (655 OPS since the trade)?
  9. He's fine, but a platoon DH should OPS higher than 733 in the month of August when you're only facing RHP. He's a below average offensive player on this team.
  10. He gets $500k when he throws his first pitch tonight, so I think he's not worried about it.
  11. Sale also had several years where he was healthy and pitched full seasons. The TJS wasn't a surprise considering his throwing mechanics. With Mayer, he has yet to have a full season. I'm not sure it's comparable.
  12. He's on the 40 man, so maybe? Probably better options though.
  13. How does Cora get players off the roster? It's not his job.
  14. Guys who made the bigs (2018 - 2023 draft): Campbell 4th Meidroth 4th Kavadas 11th Lugo 2nd Zeferjhan 3rd Murphy 6th Ward 5th Duran 7th Fernandez 23rd
  15. Who? I think that guy almost flamed out after his first season and wanted to go back to college and play basketball.
  16. Cora doesn't trust LHB against LHP. If Refsnyder wasn't hurt, he would have been in there instead of Eaton.
  17. Stonehenge, mud flaps, Cleveland, eleven and all that.
  18. I thought you'd go with: "How much more black could this be? The answer is none. None more black." Or maybe: "The review you had on Shark Sandwich was merely a two word review - s*** Sandwich."
  19. A very painful fall could get you immortalized on highlight reels though!
  20. I like Fitts, but they don't trust him to go longer than 4 innings no matter how well he's throwing. Not a great fit for this bullpen right now. Criswell had a nice start for BOS last time, but he's carrying a much higher ERA in WOO this season. It's likely that the BOS start was a little bit of luck. Tolle is also going to hit an innings limit at some point, so he's less likely of an option than Fitts or Criswell. Harrison has an obscene walk rate and shouldn't be an option IMO. Uberstine would be more of a relief option. Connelly Early has pitched great everywhere this season, but I don't think the Sox would consider him for a spot until the second half of next season.
  21. He went from being a negative bWAR guy to a positive bWAR guy just by switching jerseys. Impressive.
